Artec Industries is excited to announce our new JL SHIELD. The NEW JEEP JL front axle now includes a new Center Axle Disconnect (CAD) system for improved fuel efficiency. This new inclusion on the axle features a very thin sheetmetal skid plate from the factory which is prone to bending and denting, not to mention being a rock magnet itself. Artec Industries is the FIRST COMPANY TO ADDRESS THIS VULNERABLE PART.
Our new JL SHIELD is constructed from HEAVY DUTY 1/4" thick steel...twice the thickness of the OEM skid plate. The new design also uses countersunk flat head bolts for improved smoothness on the bottom...meaning you'll have less edges to catch on rocks. To improve the smoothness, we've eliminated unnecessary edges and extended the leading edge to the front of the axle and included an angled flange to protect the axle and allow rocks to glide under. The JL SHIELD is fully welded and hard powdercoated for direct bolt-on installation and a long life. All this at a PHENOMENAL PRICE and manufactured in-house which means its MADE IN THE USA!
Features:

  • First OEM Replacement on market for JL CAD skid plate
  • Heavy Duty 1/4" construction....twice the thickness of OEM skid plate
  • Designed using original OEM files and CNC laser cut and CNC bent in-house for precise fit
  • Uses Countersunk Flat head bolts for a smooth bottom...keeps rocks from catching on bolt heads*
  • Leading edge of OEM skid is extended forward and has a bent flange to provide a smooth bottom with no edges for rocks to catch on
  • Fully Welded and powdercoated for direct bolt-in installation...5 minute install
  • MADE IN USA IN HOUSE FROM USA MATERIALS

We have started on the truss's they should be done here pretty soon just no solid eta as of yet. Our JL is a Rubicon we have also taken tons on measurements off of Black Ops 4x4's JL Sahara when it was in our facility

Sweet! Did you guys tear into the Rubi axles at all to look at the guts and tube thickness?

Maybe a dumb question but are your parts laser or water jet cut?

Majority of our parts are cut with a bystronic laser unless it is a part that requires machining which we also do in house

Cool, I am a laser programmer at my job, that’s the only reason I ask. Pretty cool what we can do with these machines! We use Trumph lasers here at my place in NY tho, however we are in the oil and mining industries.

Installed this today and ran into some small fitment issues, was able to install. Figured I would give some feedback so everyone can learn from for such a new product. I was not able to get many photos as my phone ran out of battery at 70%.

First of the whole area is a pretty tight fit. But the fit issue was with the upper mount holes being about an 1/8" tighter than the mounts on the axle and there was no way of mounting it out of the box, looked like the sides were bent in a little too much. My solution was to smash out the ears on the shield a bit with a bfh but that did a little, next I took a grinding disk to the ears and shaved off a little bit. Even with that it was a tight fit and needed to tap it in place with a dead blow. I also removed the nut for the lower control arm to make some more space.

Attached are some photos of how much I had to shave off on both sides and a reference if the thickness. I wished I had measured the widths before mounting.

In the end got it on looking forward to bashing the shit out of it.
