There are a couple threads on this already but without clear answers.

My JLR (2 door) has 315/70R17 KO2s on 17x8.5” XD Recon Wheels with +18mm offset (5.46” backspace, about 0.5” less than stock rubi).

I went with a positive offset wheel so that the tires would not poke as much. They still poke out past the fenders by about 1.5”.

Question for the experts: With a 2” or 2.5” lift (thinking Mopar but happy to be talked out of it), would I be safe from rubbing at full flex/lock? Does the answer change for a 4 door vs 2 door? How about for 37s? I do not want any restrictions with turning/flexing on the trails.

Much of the confusion I have is related to the wider Rubicon axels for the JL. So when lift manufacturers spec backspacing, are they taking the axel width into account? Does the Mopar lift have a backspacing requirement? Anyone have a build that works with positive offset wheels?

Most of the aftermarket lift companies that specify wheel backspacing are using their own proprietary tubular front lower control arms. The stock (and Mopar lift) LCAs are bent inwards affording more space for positive offset wheels.

I spoke to AEV about there JL Pintler wheels with 5.77 +25mm offset. They said theirs works with 37’s and a 2.5 inch lift. Your JLR should be fine from my experience.
To keep the stock tucked in tire appearance and engineered scrub, I installed AEV JL Pintler wheels. Engineered for the JL these have worked on my JLR with 37x12.5 tires and the Mopar lift. I like the look and they retain the JL’s HD factory lug nuts too.

I’m running 17x9 +12 offset wheels with 37x12.5. Only place I rub when off roading is the rear wheel well liners and it’s not that bad at all. Haven’t had any other tire/wheel problems. I also am running the mopar lift with an adjustable front track bar and rear track bar bracket.

The wheels you are thinking about would have just as much inner clearance as mine but less poke

Got any pictures of your wheel and tire setup?I am considering going this exact route.
