I just did the first oil change on our '20 2.0 JL. I followed the instructions in the manual for resetting the oil life monitor, but it will not reset.

I tried both methods listed in the book.

Any ideas?

Which direction did you follow exactly?
Flip to oil life indicator on the dash? And holding the OK button for a few seconds?

works for me.

Yep, tried that. It got mad when we tried it with the engine running, had to hit start without brake to turn it on without start. The OLM came up with -- displayed. Held OK and it did not change. Start it up and the OLM still has the old reading.

di d You put the ignition to on/start before trying? Do not ignite the engine.

Suggest trying again. Don’t hit the brakes, and hold ok for a long time.

I held OK for about 60 seconds, does it require longer than that?

Nah I also had some issues with it first time, didn’t reset, but I tried again and it worked, held for like 6 seconds.

My wife just told it to the store. I'll try again when she gets back.

That did it. We must have had it on ACC instead of RUN when we tried it the first time. Thanks for the help.

Secondary Method For Oil Change Reset Procedure:

  • Without pushing the brake pedal, place the ignition in the ON/RUN position (do not start the engine).
  • Fully press the accelerator pedal, slowly, three times within 10 seconds.
  • Without pushing the brake pedal, place the ignition in the OFF/LOCK position.
