Despite the lackluster security, one thing I really like about UConnect is its simplicity. Menus and general options are easy to get to and typically require just one or two taps. A lot of infotainment systems are becoming unnecessarily complex and require a lot of user input that makes the driver spend more time dicking around on a screen instead of paying attention to the road. A perfect example of this is BMW. Their infotainment screens are beautiful, crisp, well animated, and packed with features, but have layers and layers of menus, icons, notifications, tips, and a ton of other bullshit that people shouldn't be messing around with while they're trying to navigate a two-ton steel box at 80mph.Uconnect is already not the best platform for security... adding something like Alexa to it just doesn't sit well with me. Hopefully these features can be fully disabled easily.
This new UConnect system looks like it's going that route, unfortunately. And nobody, I mean nobody, needs a fucking Alexa in their car.
