Well, I just tried it (Sahara) and it did nothing. Is it tied to a special lighting option (I have the LED lights)?

Yes it does. Try it in the dark and look at the footwell lights. I believe it also allows you to shut off the dome lights in the event you don't want them on if you have a door or tailgate opened.

I don't believe this does anything if the right switch is turned all the way up. Try this, turn the right switch all the way up, then 1 click down, then another small click down.

Now try the left switch while looking at your feet.

Lol. Welcome to sport life. On higher trims it adjusts the ambient and footwell lights. On sports it does nothing.
Technically, not *quite* true. In my Sport, it adjusts the tiny lights behind the door handles and in the cup holder. Pragmatically, you ARE correct though. Those lights are so dim that there is no appreciable difference from one end of the dial to the other.

My base model sport doesn’t have lights in the door handles. I do have cup holder lights and I can’t detect any change whatsoever.

Mark, you may have the lights in the door handles. They are EXTREMELY dim. I didn’t think I had them either, until I tested it in the black of night, with all interior lights as dim as possible. Only then did I notice the lights.

I’ll have another look then. If I do have them they are completely useless.

They are 100% useless on a Sport. But without them how would you know the dial that controls them is working?

Mark, do you mind letting me know? I’m curious; this whole knob thing has baffled and irritated me. Thanks!
