Changing...

1. Hood w/ vents + Moab decal
2. Plastic --> Steel bumpers
3. Debadging Sahara
4. Getting black wheels or plasti dipping current one.
Is that all the difference? Moab doesn't have Rubicon suspension?

Not weird, but it would be expensive. The hood alone will cost you $1,000, painted; the steel bumpers $1,300 front and rear.

Don’t forget to plasti dip the grille inserts, too.

Im actually almost there.
I’m just missing hood, and need to dip my grille inserts. I dipped the wheels already.

The rock rails are another $1,000.

I would not bother with a MOAB hood decal. Maybe get a custom decal made or just Wrangler?

I already bought the Moab decal! $40, and I like it! But I hope no one gives me shit for turning a Sahara into a Moab, (when in fact a Moab is actually aesthetically decked out Sahara)

Last year, when I decided was going to buy my first Wrangler, I couldn't figure out the purpose of the Moab. It seemed like just an appearance package. I started a thread on here to help figure out the differences and also started doing my own research on why they made the Moab. Long story short, the Moab is the sweet spot in the lineup for people who plan to use the Jeep like me: Daily driver, four seasons, some off-roading but not hard-core rock crawling. The Select-Trac is key to that formula. And what I've found from talking to a lot of Rubicon owners, is the Moab would've been their pick if they had been more familiar with their options. One of the reasons there are not more Select-Trac (and Moab) JLs is because buyers don't investigate their options and dealers don't tell them because they want to move the inventory on their lots. Just like someone stated earlier in this thread, they looked all over for a Select-Trac and no dealers had them. Were any of the dealers quick to offer a special order for one? Evidently not. Anyway, I'm loving the Select-Trac and really glad I special ordered my 2019 Moab and not wait for the 20s. I wouldn't want my Jeep any other way.

Indeed. Moab wasn’t marketed well. Positioning it as the most expensive trim level without really explaining why left many shoppers scratching their heads. Besides, Selec-Trac had been an obscure Jeep option for many years.

FWIW, there seems to be more awareness of Selec-Trac today than in years past.

I've had mine in 4H auto since October and have not noticed any difference in gas consumption other than typical winter gas/ cold temp slight drop every other vehicles endures. 4H auto runs in 2H until it slips from what I understand.

The only way I can see some gas consumption difference is if you're comparing leaving it in 2H in really poor snow conditions and "dealing with it" vs having it in 4H and taking advantage of extra traction. But that's not a fair comparison.
The same with me. Fuel consumption is 20-23 highway. Mixed around 20 with Select Trac on at all times. I just set it and forget it. Period. No real tradeoff. The way it should be. Works flawlessly.

Unpopular opinion here, but yes I think part of that is weird. I think using the MOAB decal, on a non-MOAB is weird. There is nothing wrong with a Sahara. If you wanted a MOAB, you should've just bought a MOAB. Its a Jeep, and I don't think changing out parts or upgrading is a problem, but using the same name as another trim/model in the lineup is disingenuous. If you wanted to do all of that stuff and not use a MOAB decal, or a custom decal instead of MOAB, I would say go ahead, nothing odd.

But at the end of the day its your Jeep.
