Hello everyone, my name is Allen. Long time jeeper, started lurking here for the last couple of weeks. First car and Jeep was my beloved and still missed 96 XJ. She was fully armored, lifted 5" on 33's, trimmed fenders, etc etc. Fast forward few years later, I now work at a Jeep dealership here in NJ and was lucky enough to get a new ride, the 2016 Grand Cherokee 75th Anniversary Edition. Although I loved this thing due to its ridiculous comfort, My lease was up this past December. I recently got rear ended and while my Jeep is in the shop, I got a JLU Sahara as a rental. It's not as comfortable as my GC but it's HELLA more comfortable than the XJ, TJ, and YJ's I was used to lol. 2 days in that rental and the old wheelin bug bit me. So I am glad to say that I am now a happy owner of a Sting Gray Unlimited Rubicon. All the old wrenching, and wheelin reflexes reactivated like as if I never stopped. My build plans is just about done and I am doing a whole different approach than what I did to my XJ. The new Rubi will be built with plans of a lot more overlanding and a little less rock crawlin as I am holding on to this one for a while. But who knows, might end up with a whole different build altogether lol. But this place seems like a great place and all of your rigs are incredibly inspiring. Here are my past and current babies. Rosemary the Periwinkle People Eater(XJ), Lucille the Albino Rhino (WK2), and now Jolene the Parallax(JLUR)

First round up parts arrived this week. I won a mesh cargo net few months back from a giveaway which i thought was pretty cool. so I threw that on real quick. Working for a Jeep dealership has its perks including getting discounts on parts and accessories lol. So I got the mopar black grille replacement since all my jeeps had black or non-color matched grills and I am a creature of habit. Then I was finally able to mount my Overland Bound Badge along with my Rydonair stubby antenna and GPCA grab handles (pretty nice stuff and they have a couple of other accessories I will be getting down the road). in the next couple days/weeks, these are the parts on their way to me so stay tuned:
-Dynomax Muffler delete exhaust kit
-DV8 Front stubby bumper
-Red D-Rings/ Red Fairlead
-67 Designs rail mount kit for the dash

Enough chatter here are some pics

Couple things arrive today. Door hinge guards. D-rings for the front bumper. And my Dynomax muffler delete kit. Hinge guards are pretty straight forward. 3m tape, should hold up for now. If not at least they were cheap. Looks great tho. The muffler delete kit was a breeze to install. 5 bolts(2 per hanger on each side and 1 clamp.). You have to reuse your driver side hanger on the new pipe. Other than that it’s done. Took longer to my ratchet set out. It’s loud but not too loud. Doesn’t really drone. Which means it will settle down nicely once it’s broken in. So much room under there now lol. Here’s the pics and the clip of the exhaust.

Here is the clip of the exhaust on start up. I will update this with more when broken in and some riding/drive by sound clips.

Slight delay as my JK-JL adapter bracket arrived today (With hardware) but no hardware to attach that to the bumper itself. Along with no hardware for the winch plates or the fog lights. On the phone with Extreme Terrain now and hopefully i can get the hardware needed. Stay tuned I guess

At least while I wait for my bumper hardware to arrive, other parts have arrive and I somehow ended up in NYC the other night. Nothing gives a new Jeep suspension a better shakedown than New York. It’s streets lol. My 67 Designs rail mount arrived along with my RAM grab handle ball mount for my iPad mini. The iPad will running trail map apps like Gaia. The RAM ball mount needed different hardware since it came with super long bolts with fine thread. I’ll post a better write up on that when I get pics in the day time. But I can tell you that you will need a 14x2 sheet metal screw. 14x1.75 if you’re lucky enough to find it. And also 2 1/4” washers. That’s it. It’s been in the 60’s all weekend here in NJ so I had the top off:)

So after a week long wait of still no hardware, I decided to run to the hardware store and take care of business myself. BOOM. We have a front bumper. Now I can move on to getting more armor for the diffs and control arm/shock mounts. Gonna have to try and resist winch shopping but at the rate I’m going that’s gonna be a fail lol.

So for the RAM grand handle mount, like I said you will need one sheet metal screw. 14x2 or 14x1.75 if you can find one. And 2 1/4” washers. I used 2 so that it’s stays on there tight. Here are the links for the parts:
RAM Motorcycle Handlebar Clamp Base with M8 Bolts https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005J43I56/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_0NphEbN95MJ97
RAM Composite Round Plate with Ball https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003N034SE?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
RAM EZ-Roll'r Cradle for Apple... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B7OE4DW?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

The iPad mount hold my iPad mini 5 just fine. From the reviews it seems it can hold previous sized iPad minis. Here is a closer look of the mount and short arm.

Well I got to clean up the cables for the phone and iPad since the dangling cables were driving me insane. Found this helpful video on how to pop a section of the dash to route and hide the cables.

Nice reminder. I have been using CarPlay a bunch lately and never thought of doing that. Quick 5 minutes to clean that wire up.

Really is. I knew there was a way to pop the dash somehow this video reminded me of it so I figured might as well get something done in between waiting for parts and wrenching lol. Plus how can you beat free mods

Met up with some new local folks and got out on the trail to take advantage of some snow from yesterday. Wish there was more but I’m just glad to be able to hit the trail again. What I was incredibly shocked with was how well the Falken Wildpeak M/T performed. I’ve ran BFG KM2s back in the day with my XJ but these were just wow. Probably could’ve gotten away with 2wd lol. Def sticking with these when I move to 35’s. The H1 was a nice surprise to see today too lol.

Nice. Where's that location? I'm in the Albany area, always looking for a place to get off road. Trails are few and far between up here.

its is Beacon Mountain in NY. I believe its 1h and 44mins from Albany(as per google maps). We came up from NJ so it was an hour and a half hike for us.
