In a hypothetical situation ...What would you get ?

This is my first Jeep and it has always been a bucket list car for me and so I’m in a love hate relationship currently (and as I wait patiently) as she has been in service more than I’d like in 6 mos time (presently sitting in service as I type since Fri morning) and as I look back at my beautiful military green Cherokee in the parking lot

1. 2020 Dodge Charger Scat pack (but with 3 kids - 1 in a booster, and a wife who thinks otherwise of this and the Challenger might be a hard sell
2. Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited X or High Altitude
3. Dodge Durango R/T Blacktop
4. Deeply Discounted Rubicon???
Geez, Chris... What's she in service for... Is this the same JLU you sent me pics of last month?

So if I had to go through all the lemon law hassle I'm not sure I'd want another. But if they magically just bought my jeep and gave me enough to buy another new rubicon? Sure. Why not. :)

I hate to disappoint though, but my auto 4 door 3.6 rubicon gets about 14mpg city lol.
Right, well then I'll keep my standard on the second round.

I might consider a diesel Jeep. But maybe not.

Still waiting on the Bronco. That might be an option for someone moving away from a JL. Other than that, all the vehicles I can think of are larger and less capable. But a 4Runner might suit my needs if it had the right mods.

I gave Toyota a shot: had a brand-new 2019 Tacoma TRD Off-Road for six months. Couldn’t do a minor lift without screwing up the alignment permanently, or even recalibrate the speedo for 1-inch larger tires. Got bored to tears. Toyota’s infamous “Crawl Control” system sounded like a cow giving birth.

Amazing resale, though.

From what I saw, 4Runner is what Tacoma owners aspire to...with that 30-year-old engine, archaic 5-speed automatic and all. Yes, but “it runs forever.” Perhaps, but that only makes it even worse, IMO. It’d be like being stuck watching “Groundhog Day” every day for the rest of my life...

I think 4Runner works if you truly believe nothing beats a Toyota. Otherwise, there much better options out there IMO. Including a Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Yes that Grand Cherokee Trailhawk with the Hemi sounds like a nice option!

Hey Julie. Did you make any headway on your situation?
No. FCA just told me that there's no "loss in value or safety." This damn thing won't stay in a straight line and we can't take it anywhere, but hey, FCA thinks that's great! I'm so pissed right now.

What have they tried?
do you have a massive deadspot at top of your steering? nut on steering box is loose
wander? have they adjusted your toe in? mine was so far out it would wander in no wind.

have they retorqued everything in the front end?

Have they done the SS and trackbar.

Mine wandered and shook like a SOB, took it to my dealer and told them what to do, I got pushback from a few dumb kids there, but told them to STFU and do as I say.
They did the SS recall, trackbar, adjusted my toe to 1/4, and retorqued everything in the front suspension.

They actually apologized after finding 3 things not torqued to spec.

Driving it home it was a totally different jeep, I would say 90% better, I put on my 285/70/17 set ( was waiting to get the issues fixed before installing them) and it took care of the remaining 10 %.

I can do 100 on the highway and it feels stable as hell...I don't do 100 on the highway, did it once at 2am just to feel it.

The 3.0 Diesel I wanted 2.5 years ago..

If I left Jeeps I'd grab a Volvo XC60 or Audi SQ5. I do miss luxury car tech.

edit: Oh, I forgot, I have an order for a Cybertruck. I doubt I'll be interested, though.
