Does 3.6 eTorque add any horsepower or foot pounds? Specs I find seem to say itā€™s the same.
Thatā€™s because eTorque doesnā€™t operate above 1500 rpm. So it doesnā€™t add to the peak power numbers that are advertised.

Thanks. That explains no HP gains Iā€™d think itā€™d give a few pound feet of torque to the specs. Stop and go driving was noticeably smoother.

As far as I know, nobody knows for sure the cutoff RPM or if the quoted torque is just peak. I've heard 1500 RPM and first half tire rotation (with no mention of gearing), but never seen any official specs.

FWIW: below is the torque by RPM. The values in red could have up to an additional 90 lb-ft, but are likely far less in the higher RPMs to make a smoother transition.

Found a couple quotes from press launch

ā€œThe electric motorā€™s output of up to 16 hp/90 lb-ft doesnā€™t get figured in because it spins three times for every turn of the engine and by the time the engines reach their peak power the electric motor output is negligible.ā€

ā€œThe extra oomph comes in when the gas engines are at low speed, like between idle and 1,500 rpm, before they are able to produce bigger torque numbers on their own. The hybrid system broadens the torque band as opposed to adding to peak torque available.ā€

Assuming those numbers are at the crankshaft, and knowing that the motor puts out 16 HP max, the 3.6 BSG torque curve at best will look like this:

RPM lb-ft
0900 90
1000 84
1100 76
1200 70
1300 65
1400 60
1500 56

In reality, it's probably something like this:

It's a 90 ft/lb electric motor, but only adds it on the bottom end of the RPMs. Basically a short burst of torque to get the vehicle moving from a stop, reducing the amount of fuel needed to do so. It doesn't add anything on the top end, as its being used as a generator to replenish the battery at that point.
It never was intended to add high-end torque . . . if you've seen the video where the Tech is riding along with the vlogger.
he fully explains the 6 functions of the eTorque system. the 3 I most like are the SMOOTH/NEARLY SEAMLESS start/stop, the gas savings, and the improved mpg's. The other 3 are a bit "techy" for me but worth noting . just my opinion .
Only problem now is the 2020's are greatly limited in the eTorque offerings on Wranglers . SO, If I were in the market for a 2020 Wrangler, I'd compromise in order to get the improved mpg, improved torque and "spunky" off the line feel (if/when desired, ha) with the 2.0 !

Does 3.6 eTorque add any horsepower or foot pounds? Specs I find seem to say itā€™s the same. Also, I drove with and without eTorque. The ESS is definitely smoother so much so I would get it if that was the vehicle I wanted. Actually Iā€™m sprained there isnā€™t more on the subject.
Your not trying very hard ? There is MUCH to be found on the U-T, going back to the very Introduction of the system !
you can also go to Other FCA-friendly Forums . . . 5th Gen Ram or Gladiator + again a specific U-T search will reward you with more watching than time on your hands .

I don't understand. There must be a gas savings. Why does't the mpg on window sticker reflect any increase?

I don't know what U-T is and not being savvy I suppose I am only looking at this motor inside the Sahara. Thanks.

City mileage will be better than a model without a start/stop system, its not going to improve highway mileage.

Essentially what I was saying, as on the mid and high range RPMs its recharging the battery instead of adding any torque.
