So I was looking at getting the rough country 2 inch spacer lift for $200 for my sport s to accommodate the 35’s I’ll be buying. Now I’m looking at a 4 door Rubicon (steel bumper) suspension on CL for $225.

Would a 4 door Rubicon suspension work on a 2 door sport s? Has anyone done this and could report on the experience and ride, etc. I was leaning toward the 2 inch spacer but if I can fit 35s with the Rubicon suspension that might be a better move.

I hope someone will chime in with real numbers from experience, but I can offer the theory to help you with a decision.

The Rubicons sit about an inch taller than a non-rubicon of the same door model. A 4-door spring on a 2 door raised JK's about 1-1.5" taller. So you are looking at a range of 2-2.5" of lift with a 4-Door Rubicon suspension on your 2 door sport.

The parts will work, but you may want to be prepared to purchase some Correction Brackets for the control arms, shock extensions or replacement shocks, and some sway bar end links to really make sure you are dialed. Longer bumpstops may also be necessary. Like I said, I hope someone chimes in with more exact numbers from experience, but for the cost, this is a better way to go than the Spacers.

The 1st picture is Kermit only a week old and stuck off road....those stock highway tires sure do ride smooth but do nothing for traction :) The middle picture is Kermit who is a Sport at 6 months old with a new steel bumper after hitting a deer, a trek top for summer fun and aftermarket wheels and tires. I went with 33" Rubi size 285/70 KO2s on 17x8.5 -6 offset Vision Turbine wheels. I never had any rubbing with the stock sport suspension but I obtained a Rubicon springs and shocks from a 4 door hard top and put those along with 1/4" longer mopar front lower control arms and 1/2' terraflex spacers. I got over 2" of lift as seen in the bottom picture.

I put a Rubicon 4dr takeoff suspension (shocks and springs only) on my 2dr Sport and gained about 1 3/4"-2"...in my opinion that would the way to go, then you could still add a spacer later if you wanted more

Just ask @cosine he knows!
For those that have done this, any affect on steering?

No effect on steering for me, I didn't even do an alignment afterwards because it seemed like it still tracked straight and the steering wheel was still centered. After about 7k miles and a couple tire rotations I haven't seen any uneven or weird tire wear

I’m planning on doing the same with my 2 door sport. My question is do you have to part number for the extended lower control arms and did you put the 1/2” spacers on front and rear.

Swapped 4dr hardtop Rubicon springs, shock, wheels and tires onto my 2dr Sport. Got right at 1.5" of lift from the springs and another 1" from the larger tires. Added the longer Mopar lower control arms from the Mopar lift. Rides as a good or better then stock. (Replaced worn drag link with Synergy - waiting on Synergy to release their track bar as the OEM bushings flex too much so still have a tittle wander)

The part number for the longer control arms for the mopar lift is
68322798AA
Yes I put the front and rear 1/2" spacers in, glad I did while swapping the springs anyhow.

This lift assembly on our Sport has made it so much better over stock. I was concerned that the ride would be stiff, it is not! Handling was improved on and off road. I put a basic brand 2.5" lift with new springs and shocks on my 90K mile JK in the past and it was worse performing than my stock sport suspension was. Unless you want to spend a lot on a quality system the Rubicon take offs are the way to go on a Sport!!

For me I also added longer control arms Mopar part 68322798AA

1/4" of additional length added the perfect amount of caster that my once wandering JL is now planted, calm and a pleasure to drive even on the freeway :handsinair:

So i can get front and rear springs, f&r shocks, f&r sway bar links and front LCA's from a 2019 JLUR EQUIPPED WITH HARD TOP AND TOW/AUX PACKAGE.

So i should get 2 inch lift? And will it be pretty much a bolt on swap?

With all those parts, will it affect my alignment?

This will go on a 2019 sport 3.6l manual transmission. ..

Thanks in advance for the info and advice.....

Yes maybe less than 2". Yes bolt on. Yes it will decrease your caster.
