I brought the Jeep in today but unfortunately they were out of tabs to repair the defroster. They told me they were expecting some to come in shortly and would let me know when to bring the Jeep back in. I will keep you posted.

They also made me leave mine for a day so they can "try to fix it" and document the issue despite me telling them it will need a new window. When I picked the Jeep up he told me he would need to order the glass. This was on September 5th and I have not heard a peep since.

The service dept called me this afternoon and said they have the part. I now have an appointment next Tuesday.

However, I am worried that, like others on here, this will ultimately just need a new glass but going through this "try and fail to glue it" routine will mean I will be in the heart of the winter with no rear defrost.

Anyone have any idea if this glue thing works long term for anyone?

Mine came loose this past Friday . I think it had been running for about 5 minutes on the previous day.

So the front defroster blows through only the middle 1/3 of the dash and now the rear defroster will need repair. I have LED headlights. The only vehicle I have ever owned that is less winter friendly is a C7 corvette...which still has an operable rear defroster.

I am all set for now. They adhered the new tab onto the glass. Annoyingly, the lead had popped off the tab from the time I left the dealership to when I got home. The paperwork says they tested it, so not sure what happened. I popped it back on by pushing it until it snapped on. It seemed like it was then on securely and did not come off when I pulled it lightly. I wonder if they hadn't pushed it on all the way, who knows. After driving around with it all day today and running the rear defroster for a an hour in a rainy commute home it's still on there and was working fine.

Mine has been fix for 7th time now, going back to dealer next week for 8th time. I feel they should have a fix by now. I feel like I will do that until the warranty end on the vehicle?

Anybody have this happen yet or am I just lucky? JLUS rear window defroster came unsoldered already, 4 months 2600 miles, very little off road? Rear window raised maybe dozen times at most, seems like a short life solder!!

Had it happen on my 2012 JKUS but at 50k and lots of off road!! Pain in the butt, dealer tried to re solder, crap job. Found a kit for repair with some kind of electrical epoxy compound, worked better but tricky.

Go Jeep!!!
Yep, happened to my son's JL. As others have said, Jeep will/should replace the rear window.

I had a new window installed after over a year wait and 3 non fixes. Window seems the same, sure hoping it's still "fixed" by the time real winter is here? Feels warm when switched on don't wanna try inserting test probes! Connectors detached without any apparent touching from the old window.

By the looks the new factory MoPar window seems to have no apparent connector fix? You'd think in almost 2 years they'd have figured something out? My JLUS is an early 2018 so just sayin"!!!

Go Jeep!!!

Mine came off too. 2018 wrangler Sahara JL. Must be a problem with these windows from the look of it. Will have to take it in to be fixed. Not even a year old vehicle. When is keep going to fix the issue.

Update: took mine to dealer, they had to order a replacement glass like the others here. Getting it installed on the 15th. Wonder how long this connection will last...

I'm just hoping the same thing does not happen to this jeep. They fixed it with the epoxy and it ended up frying the rear window and I had to pay to replace it. Then it smashed out 2 times.
