Those fields are just 10 minutes drive from home, I live in a village that is surrounded by countryside like that. Cheshire is a dairy farming county and has a lot of open countryside.

If you zoom into the picture below and look at the hill to the left of centre you can see the ruins of Beeston Castle. It was a medieval castle used to guard the border between England and Wales.

Now thats pretty cool. Is it open to the public or is it an archaeological site?

Well this thread it a hotbed of good natured ribbing, so you could expect me to fire back without getting too upset, lol.

When all the meatheads are in the gym, you'll find a lot of Marines having a LAN party in the barracks, or playing D&D or the like. I got one of my teammates hooked on Star Trek and he was constantly borrowing all of my DVDs.

In our teens we scaled the perimeter wall one summer night and climbed up to the castle with a supply of alcohol, it was all a bit messy!

we had some cold nights here and I though the mosquito where gone nope they came back.

Had you not brought attention to it, I'd never noticed. But now it really stands out. So much history there. No castles here, just old destroyed moonshine stills!

Ah very well, I was hoping you could do some good exploring, I guess you have to stay behind the velvet rope and not go climbing on the walls if you've got to pay to enter.

I'd love to go to something like that and not have to deal with the red tape, especially a Battleship museum.

No it’s all open, no barriers or tape and there‘s a network of caves lower down the hill from the castle. It’s a great place for kids.

To be fair, even in hot summer we don't have a lot of them. A benefit of dry climate I suppose.
