It seems there’s more and more of these posts showing up... week ago it was I don’t get compliments on my Rubicon. I don’t think jeeps have changed as much as people....why is everyone so sensitive?

I play piano in a whorehouse
I used to be Toyota guy years ago and ran with a Jeep group, was the only one in the group . They used to give the wife and I a bunch of crap, all good natured of course, but when we started doing things and going places they wouldn’t, or couldn’t then the crap got less and less.

It was a simpler life back then. Mid 80s early 90s. This was our rig at our house in Mesa AZ , and at my buddies house in Lake Havasu City, sorry about the crappy pictures, taking a picture of an old picture.

A 1974 land cruiser fj 40. Amazing vehicle. I restored it in the early 90s. Did most of work myself. I shipped engine out to machine shop, and left the painting to the professionals. But the wife and I disassembled and reassembled everything. To needle the group even more, our license plate read “ ntajeep”.... :giggle: ....Fun times....

This thread was merely an observation of human nature, and I wanted to know how it was in other places, that’s all. WV, I see....I lived in point pleasant ( home of the moth man) for a few years......:)

Never had an FJ40 though I always wanted one. Here are two that I regret letting go of for some stupid reasons that I can't remember. 69 X33 Z/28 and 91 Grand Waggy. I also wish I had been smart enough to just take a picture of the car without that goofball in front of it. :CWL:

Oh, and I already know the Grand Wagoneer is also not a "real Jeep" because of the square headlights. LOL

Thats a big generalization. There has to be people who bought their jeeps for reasons other than image. Doesnt there ? At least ? Maybe ? Shit ! Im not insecure am I ? Arent we talking about BMW and Mercedes people ? Not jeep people ! Say it aint so !
LOL, I used to be a BMW image guy and then got into SUV's. But they just never game me the image I wanted until I got the Rubicon

I shipped engine out to machine shop, and left the painting to the professionals, the color was a compromise. She wanted purple and I wanted black, so she said how bout the darkest purple we can find, right then I knew I had a keeper, 30 plus years later , still awesome.

The wife and I disassembled and reassembled everything. To needle the group even more, our license plate read “ ntajeep”.... :giggle: ....Fun times....

Lol. Our tastes are in alignment once again. My first wheeler was a '74 FJ40 with a 327 corvette engine on 34" Super Swampers. Good times in that rig.

Thanks Mike! One day I will get a YJ as a dedicated trail rig and modify the hell out of it. I admit it is mostly nostalgia for the YJ I had all through my 20s, but there is something about the YJ I love. Were you with me at UWharrie that day when those guys had matching black YJs? Brought back memories.
Dang, no I wasn't. I do like a a well built YJ and I must admit the simplicity of leaf springs entices me for a build as well :)

I've also seen this when the S2000 went from 2.0L to 2.2L, and every time Harley comes out with a new engine. The bottom line, if you've got something newer, there will be people with the older version that resent you and think yours is not a true one. Heck, I remember as a kid thinking the square lights on the YJ were ugly, then hearing when I had my JK that real jeeps had square headlights ;)
It seems to give some people purpose to just bitch about how their old thing is better then your new thing. Or how your new thing isn't the real thing anymore and how their thing is bigger, stronger, longer, better, hmmm, sounds almost like a porn video huh?. I guess that's a good point to make. Guys are always competing and struggling with their "our" egos. My dad once told me when I was 15 that one of his most important learning experiences in life came when he realized the best way to succeed and compete all in the same line, was to lose the ego. Just lose the ego. Ego, is only good for one thing. Making you pretend to feel better about yourself. In actuality, if you already feel good about yourself you don't need to flex the ego at all. You have a better chance at successful relationships, business dealings, love, and future hope, if your ego stays at bay and you simply don't give a crap what other people think of you or want of you. If you don't like my headlights, good, I'm glad that you don't have them and I do. Your YJ is a great Jeep, my JLU is also a great Jeep. Neither is hurting anyone so just stand, enjoy what you have and who cares what other people think of it. My JLU is Mojito (bright green). One friend of mine constantly comments on how the color of my Jeep is a "homo" color. OMG, it's 7th grade all over again. My gay nephew has a black Jeep, so not sure why anyone would associate a color to a gender preference, but who gives a shit. The same friend who calls my Jeep a homo color has a gray base model Honda CRV with 200K miles on it. LOL. Not sure why my new JLU gets the title but who cares. I love it and Mojito is my favorite color of all time. My wife thinks it's cool too, but if she didn't. I wouldn't care. That's my Monday morning rant. Now off to the dreaded shave routine. I hate routines.

The very essence of why social media is so destructive to many people. The need to show off your great life, impress total strangers with your "stuff" and get "likes" becomes an addiction for those with no real core values.

Don't really care what others think of my Jeep I just know I always wanted one and when the time came I could finally get one I ordered exactly what I wanted bar none. I bought this for me and nobody else. ;)
