Posting this after numerous requests on the specifics of my install. My goal was to add an OEM look third row with fold/tumble feature and with working seat belts. I began with the goal of shoulder belts with the roll bar extender but i'm not willing to give up my soft top at the moment so I went with lap belts.

Here are the parts:
1. JK OEM leather rear fold/tumble bench
2. JKU 3rd aftermarket brackets (not sure what brand. bought everything together from a seller).
3. 1/2" nuts/bolts, weather strip, silicone.

Here are the photos. The most time consuming part is measuring everything out. At the moment, all features work. But to drop my top all the way from safari mode, I need to fold the seat once then reopen. The headrests need to be taken off for full fold/tumble. Legroom is very reasonable for my 12 year old and the seats are very comfortable.

Not much information out there on this project on JL's. Hope this gives you a way forward if you're looking for a solution.

Need to clean up the carpet area. Plan to use the OEM Mopar All Weather cargo mats in the rear. Will need to probably trim them.

The factory seat belt receiver wouldn't work with my cheap amazon seat belt. I tucked it in and mounted the aftermarket ones.

Can you post a pic the soft top all the way down and the seat up?

That is pretty kick ass. I could put my kid back there and enjoy kick free driving. ;)

That looks super claustrophobic lol. Sweet mod though! It almost looks OEM. Kinda reminds me of one time we took a road trip and I was stuck in the 3rd row of a Durango though.

I've been hoping people would get after this idea. I pulled the rear seat out of my 2 door 15 minutes after I bought it, and need someone to take it off my hands.

It looks really cool. Just have to hope you don’t like any one you put in that row in the case of an accident. There is no protection at all back there. Again, not disparaging it because it’s a cool, clean looking install.

Who needs an Urban Suburban when you can do that... Until you need the trunk space

That aside, Pimptastic

It is a very cool addition but based on what I know of how unsafe that is I would never do that to my JLU. I had a very close friend die in a roll-over in a CJ7 sitting in a backseat when her head hit the road because the older Jeeps didn't have the rollbar protecting the backseat passengers. That was one of the main driving forces behind the JK design having the rollbar protecting the rear passengers. This exposes them 100% to any accident. Any rear end collision will expose those passengers to a high likelihood of death.

Wait... the JK? The rollbar was extended on the YJ. Don’t remember the years exactly but the original YJ (87-?) had the angled roll cage that led to tragedies like your friend’s (sorry, by the way, that’s really sad). I want to say it was 1991 when they squared it off to better protect rear passengers.

Having said that, great work OP. That looks awesome.
