The radio is plug and play, at least from my experience.

You will lose the ability to adjust the volume if you don't swap in the center stack for the dual-zone one with the radio buttons. Volume is controlled through the steering wheel controls.

And if you're thinking about swapping the center stack, you will need the Tazer since you need to program the Jeep for dual-zone automatic a/c in order for the new climate buttons to work.
FYI You can do this without paying $300+ for a Tazer, I used an OBDGenie programmer and got mine working for a fraction of the cost.

Unfortunately, the reports from most/if not all people that are having problems with the 5" is that the dealer and Jeep are flat out refusing to upgrade that radio because they say its not compatible with your model. The company line is basically, "you get what the Jeep came with from the factory" and you have no upgrade options. Zero. Zilch.

In this case, where the salesman promised you something that wasn't accurate, maybe the dealership will do whatever it takes but your chances aren't high.

Bottom line... The 5" Uconnect sucks. Bad. Real bad. Not to mention has firmware issues that cause continuous reboots in certain situations.

Jeep is unwilling (as of yet) to fix the firmware issues nor offer the 7" or the 8.4" as a replacement option, regardless of whether you are willing to pay for it or not, claiming incompatibility. Of course, we know that people are purchasing the radios from outlets such as infotainment and other mopar parts sites. They work and all you lose is the dash volume control.

Not sure if this info is any help in your situation, but I wish you luck. I wish I would have known how buggy this 5" uconnect is and how much it lacks in functionality before I drove off the lot.

Please let us know in the thread if the dealer is willing to do anything to resolve it for you!
After weeks of back and fourth with the dealer we have gotten basically no where. There are two options they have left us with are 1) lease buy back and get into another lease for a much higher rate due to the current options 2) dealer installs after market 8.4 that they sourced but can’t tell me much about. According to the dealer doing this is going to run $2100, they are willing to cover 500 but that leaves us still well over out of pocket vs what the option would have just cost. @JeepCares?

Did you upgrade from the 5 to the 7? That’s our dilemma.
Yep. Way better. The backup camera clarity alone was worth it. And not sure if it’s just price but the audio quality is better. It’s just better all around:

Hi Zak,
We're sorry to hear about your continued infotainment concerns. As the Customer Care Team, we do not recommend altering your vehicle outside of factory specifications. We can get you connected with a Case Specialist to work with you and your dealer. If this is something you would be interested in, please send our team a private message.

Considering an upgrade from 5” to 7” - understand to have a volume control knob would need to upgrade central control stack
Q: what (aside from volume knob) is the value of changing the central control stack?

If you don’t mind while OBDGenie did you use?
The part number is "ACCLD". I got mine from another member (@JJexp) and paid OBDGenie $50 to add extra VIN# to the programmer. I purchased the climate control stack from MyMoparParts for ~$150.

Now everything on the 7" radio works including climate controls, auto climate, etc.

How much are people selling their 7" UConnect head units for? I'm trying to upgrade my sound system and may be going with a new Kenwood. That means I'd have my UConnect available if one of you wanted it. It's not a done deal yet, but seriously looking in that direction right now. Thanks.

How will you handle all the Vehicle features that are linked to the Radio though? Like USB settings, Light Settings, Auxiliary switches, etc etc.

@RubenZ - With this head unit, Kenwood Excelon DMX706S, and the iDataLink Maestro RR, I should be able to retain all functions. That head unit should also give me more power for the speakers, it'll most likely be faster as well. But, I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed when it comes to this stuff. However, I have been trying to do a lot of research on it. If I don't swap out the factory UConnect, I'll just have to use the PAC Audio AP4-CH41 R2 so that I can install an aftermarket amp with a clean signal w/o having to use a DSP. That's my understanding.

Click on the Safe Driving "See More" button and it shows the instrument cluster and options and stuff...

Hmm. Interesting. That looks nice and the Radio doesn't seem too badly priced.

Look on eBay and you'll find it for around $325.99 or so, +/- a few $'s.
