No that's not true...we all understand(obviously) larger tires, lifts etc get you less mpgs.

Point here is trying to figure out how some people are getting such high avg mpgs and fuel ranges.
Tailwinds and a constant load really helps.

So tell me, what manner can you drive on the highway that will net you significant more mileage...
If you haven't already tried this, set your current MPG to display on all screens (I'm guessing the fancy gauges can do that since my basic one can). Then on your normal speedo display, observe the relationship between speeds and MPG when you're on a highway. There seems to be a few sweet spots for my engine and gearing, usually around 59 or 65mph in 5th gear where I can get 30+MPG. I've also noticed that if I ever so slightly reduce gas pedal pressure, I will maintain the same speed while increasing MPG. I'm talking about flat roads here. Any significant grade and there's nothing you can do, but it usually balances out with the MPG boost going back downhill.

I'm not overly concerned about gas, but it's kind of a fun game to play on my otherwise monotonous drive home from work. If I'm in traffic, I just go with the flow and try to avoid getting killed by someone on their phone or a recent escapee from a nursing home.

Soft tops create more drag though.
Oh, sure, I just wanted to give the whole picture. It could also be that the reduced weight vs hard top is more significant in city or on hills (I'm guessing it weighs less). Is it my imagination or is the JL soft top a bit more angled in the front and tallish towards the rear, compared to previous generations? Maybe it's more aerodynamic than it used to be.

When I had my JLR six speed manual, I averaged about 17.5mpg. I also did 75-80 on the highway. I would see in the 20s if I slowed down, but no one does 55-60 on the highway where I live. People who are seeing low to mid 20s are driving 65mph or below.

I do not get great mileage with 37’s haha

Computer is pretty close to hand calculated.

Odometer average and trip from this morning to go mountain biking. This morning all city.
Odo reading is a mix with mostly city.

Here is a photo of the total trip we took from Tucson to Flagstaff (~5000 ft elevation gain) and then driving to Southern California on the hilly 40 and then dealing with the inevitable So Cal traffic hell (along with terrible air quality and insane gas prices). Did see Van Morrison while in So Cal and that man can sure sing. We took the 8 back (almost no traffic) to Tucson. Did between the speed limit and 5 mph over most of the time, although I did find myself going over 80 mph a few times. Got 20 mpg over 1600 mile trip.

Edit: Stock 2019 JLUR, 3.6 V6, Manual transmission, 33” KO2’s (no lift or other mods ... yet). Purchased the Jeep on 7/15/2019 and just passed 9100 miles

I'm sure I could get better mileage, but (especially compared to my KL Cherokee) the JL just seems to want to motor. It gets to speed easier than I expect, and I find myself creeping over the speed I think I'm doing on the highway easily.

I've seen people posting screenshots of averaging mpgs in the 24's, 25's and as high as 28mpg with ranges of 400-500+ ranges.

I've never seen or heard of such high numbers in a Jeep Wrangler.

I get 14-16mpgs on avg with a range of 280-315 avg.

I am lifted 2.5", 35" KO2's.

When it was stock I remember 330ish range with 16-18avg mpge and driving my new rig like a baby.

How are these folks getting such high numbers that Jeep cant even claim the Wrangler gets?

....do these number really exist or are people somehow fudging there claims?
2.0l here, I'm also on a Mopar lift with BFG 35s.. The dash is ALWAYS optimistic by at least 2 mpg and I've seen it at 29+ when first resetting after a fill-up until it stabilizes..
With speedo correction, my actual calculated MPG is around 20-21 mpg since I started running Top Tier 87 octane gas (yes, it does make a difference over WaWa, Sheetz or other convenience store fuels) https://www.toptiergas.com/
My 120mi/day commute is all highway, very little around town driving and a few wheeling days. As others have said, ther is a sweet spot around 65mph, above 70 it goes down pretty quickly.

Sure a cow is more aerodynamic, but what about emissions? Is that cow a 4 cylinder turbo or V6?

I guess emissions depend on what you feed her.. It only matters in California though where they are banning regular cows and making laws that only electric cows can exist in the state.. :CWL:
