Ha you NOTgotren it fixed you'd be holding the bag,on product liability,it boils down to the bracket would not let proper installtion so order a dern bracket for $ 26.00,don't kid yourself this is NOT incompetence, but out and out disregard for the customer....

Saying a heavier duty damper will stop DW, is like grabbing a guy having a seizure, by grabbing him you stop him thrashing around hurting himself, but you never addressed the real problem, stopping seizures altogether.......having said that....DEAR GOD THANK YOU FOR JEEPS,MY SMILE RUNS MILES WIDE,MOST FUN I'VE EVER HAD,BAR NONE...I'M BLESSED TO OWN A JEEP,I LOVE IT.

I'm very sorry to hear this, jmcl. To clarify, did you already address this with your dealer? Mind following up with me via private message so I can have this formally documented as well? Thanks in advance!

The problem is not education BUT the fact that some brackets will not accomodate the Mopar 580ae because of the bulge at intake end near tire and they just "flip it",to get it to fit which negates having the part being directional to begin with, if they wanted you to put in on in any manner,FCA would not have issued a june 2019 update in RED,noting the new installation....

Did it take care of the play in the steering wheel ?
No, it did not, unfortunately. You're from BG? I lived there for 8 years before moving back to Bardstown. Graduated from WKU.

Got this done today. I didn't have a real problem with the way it drove, but I do notice that it is a little bit more stiff feeling now.

As you can see from the attached pic, the bulge in no way interferes with the mounting of the stabilizer. Seems to be plenty of room to me.

Just got done driving 45 minutes each way to the dealer for an appointment I made back in August to get the damper replaced. Not on the schedule and no part in stock... awesome...

I'm debating ordering one. I found one from a dealer in the next state and it's $37 + change to get it shipped to my door. It's a 10 minute task. Should I spend $37 for a safety item or spend my time going to/from the dealer on a vacation day, possible hours of wait time and then have a 50% chance they install it correctly which would lead to more time? I'm sure FCA would like to save $10 on not reimbursing for the part. Normally I wouldn't consider doing a recall item myself but for 10 minutes and a cost less than a tank of gas I can know it's done correctly.

View attachment 227247 View attachment 227240 Thanks for the post on the damper being installed in the wrong direction . . Had the recall taken care of and they installed it incorrectly . Took it back the next morning and it was redone.
They said they had a meeting half the techs knew about the correct installation position the other half admitted they didnā€™t read the diagram / instructions . Very easy for owners to do a visual inspection to verify . Thanks again for all who posted pictures .
