Honda Accord - Zero....Jeep JL with hitch mounted skid plate - One

This happened about an hour ago. I always knew that hitch mounted skid would come in handy if I got rear-ended. No one hurt.

Looks like the spare took most of the impact. The hitch "skid plate" (looks more like a step to me), barely made an impact.
Check your spare mount and tailgate for damage.

The accord did exactly what it is designed to do. A crash is a set amount of energy that HAS to go somewhere. In this case the front end of the car absorbed the energy. If it didn’t deform it would be transmitted directly to the occupants.

If you hit an object larger than you this is exactly what you want your car to look like.

yes, whole front end stuffed in, car probably total loss, nary any damage to the jeep, imagine if jeep had after market steel bumper.

Ill ignore the crs etc and take my chances in a larger suv, know people hurt in smaller 5 star imported compacts who bloviated how safe they were according to cr until they were involved in accidents. sir Isacc usually wins.
