Last week I had the steering damper recall taken care of. Today I experienced the death wobble for the first time. Any reason to believe there is a connection?

Full blown death wobble where you had to stop the vehicle or steering shimmy—a momentary shake in the steering wheel?

Check all the bolts. It’s possible something wasn’t tighten down. Otherwise, that is weird it would cause a full blown death wobble.

Check to make sure they didn't install the new damper upside down. There is a sticker on it that has an arrow that say front. It should be on the bottom of the damper with the arrow pointing to the front bumper. The dealer instructions say it will not function properly and may damage the damper if installed upside down. Here is a picture of one mounted upside down

Had my V41 and TSB for loud cooling fan done today. Requested I watch mechanics perform work due to forum post and they said ok. Work was preformed correctly. I have not experienced any bad steering but wanted the new AE stabilizer. Have 13000 miles on OEM with zero problems.

Reason I asked is that I had mine replaced at 13k miles. I’m now at 32k and I’m staring to get a little oscillation—not full wobble. I’m going to have the damper replaced again before I run out of warranty.

Do you have new AE actuator by V41 recall or just new OEM original or second generation AD model?

My was an early 18 and replaced with AD
V41 recall should apply to any 2018 with June 18 or before build date Recall latest generation actuator now use AE model Also recall allows for reimbursement if you have already replaced with after market equipment

They install it backwards, if they installed it properly the cheapo rock guard would be in the way. Buy a rough country n3 for a proper fit. FCA sucks!!!

I actually experienced a good death wobble several times. Had planned on taking it in anyways when I got the recall notice

The recall fixed it completely

Well now my Jeep has been sitting at the dealership for almost 3 months this time. Last time it sat there for 32 days and the time before that it sat for 35. I have been dealing with this for about one year and all I hear is put a new steering damper in. We have put 2 mopar dampers and 2 falcon 2.2 dampers and they all wear out after a few thousand miles. I just love paying $808 a month to see my Jeep sitting at the dealership. It’s hard to find cuz they park it back in a corner so nobody can see it. Hopefully I can drive it by next year.
