Hmmm..does it have to be a stock part or can I file for reimbursement for after market RC stabilizer? I haven't got the recall notice yet in the mail. Is it only certain wranglers ?
There are a few folks here who confirmed FCA has stated they will not reimburse for an aftermarket stabilizer.

I took my 2018 JLU in for a rattling speaker and horrible gas mileage. They said I had a recall on the stabilizer and so they replaced it. I have to admit the car drives on the freeway at higher speeds with a tighter feel. Speakers overhead are fine the plastic cover is what was rattling and they had to replace the foam underneath because the ones that it comes with is not sufficient. I also turn down the bass in my controls and that solved the problem. As far as the gas goes I donā€™t know what to make of it. Iā€™m getting less than 12 miles a gallon driving around town. My Ford truck with a six cylinder ecoboost Engine average is about 18 miles to the gallon around town. So I know itā€™s not me. I have the V-6 gas engine, any ideas out there on better gas mileage? Is anyone experienced the same thing I am experiencing with gas usage? When I ask other people at the jeep dealership about anything like when you set your media on for your phone hook up. When I stop and then restart the car it reverts back to the radio. Itā€™s annoying! The service manager at jeep says well itā€™s a jeep! Is that the answer for anything that is a question about a performance other than the 4 Wheel capability .

Have you experienced actual death wobble? Your statement tells me you have not.

A steering shimmy/bump steer is not death wobble, some are conflating these two terms.

I had a TJ with death wobble and it absolutely could have caused an accident. Luckily nobody was around me when it happened on a rural highway in good weather.
I concur with this 100%. I think what most people are complaining about is usually bump steer. "Death Wobble" is not an exaggeration, it literally feels like the entire front end is possessed. And @GreyFox, I nearly shit myself as well the first time it happened.
And I don't care what the latest FCA news release said, a steering stabilizer will not cure true death wobble. It may somewhat lessen the severity or frequency, but it is a bandaid, not a fix. The ONLY thing that cured it on my old lifted TJ was torquing the hell out of the lower control arms. Not sure about the JL because I seem to be one of the chosen few with no steering issues....

I just got my notice today. I've experienced no problems, but it's about due for an oil change anyway (I have some freebies) so I called to make an appointment. The guy put me on hold for around 3 minutes, then some other guy picked up and curtly informed me that I need to call back in a couple of weeks because they don't have the parts.

We had good service from this dealer in the past with our old TJ, but just the attitude I caught on the phone today makes me wonder if that will still be the case. I'll call them back in a couple of weeks and see what the story is...

Iā€™m getting 14 to 15 in city driving and 20 to 22 highway. It seems that mine stays in lower gears to long before shifting.

What's the deal with this recall @JeepCares ? FCA sends out this notice V41, but doesn't have any parts available for said notice? If FCA doesn't have their crap together yet, then why send out the paperwork or have it on the app as a recall?

I think there is something between the two. Bump steer suggests a single oscillation, or maybe just a couple. I was getting a pretty high-speed juddering, the whole vehicle shaking, wheel shaking back and forth, but it was nowhere near as extreme as the bump steer YouTube videos I've seen.

I guess my fear is, that's how it is at 10-12k miles, what's it going to be like with 50-100k when the components are all worn in, etc. hopefully this fixes it though.

That's just the type of personnel that would give absolutely no care to your vehicle and install the thing on backwards. Considering you've been overall satisfied with them, hopefully you just caught one guy having a bad day.

Hi RagTopDeluxe,
We are sorry to hear about your continued steering concern. Have you opened a case on the Customer Care side to have this properly documented and connect you with a case specialist? If not, please send our team a private message!

Thank you, Laura.

I had a case right after I bought the Jeep. The dealer did an alignment, which helped. I've done some work on it myself and will continue to do so. What I really want is a new steering box for the 2-door. From what I've read, the new steering box has been the biggest help in sorting out steering issues.

A few things are frustrating.
1. It seems that a lot of people are getting no to minimal help from their dealer. Mine has been helpful, but being told that the steering damper will solve my steering troubles is disheartening. We all know it won't.

2. Many of us resort to spending hundreds of dollars (and counting!) to replace parts that should be better.

3. For me, we had to cancel our trip to Colorado because driving the Jeep that far just isn't going to happen. I've done some work that has helped and we're hopeful for Moab in the spring. But i'm incredibly disappointed that I won't be in Colorado next month.

I should be here:

I had this done back on 7/19 after picking it up new on 7/5. It did feel a little tighter, especially at highway speeds. My dealer...appt scheduled, show up, give them the keys, 5 min later saying the part is no longer there...used on some other service call and hadn't ordered a replacement. I was pissed wasting the time showing up and the fact their "system" isn't smart enough to assign parts so they have the crap there for a SCHEDULED appt. They could care less though. They were ready to send me on my way and reschedule until I spoke with the salesman I'd dealt with. Luckily they have a sister dealership nearby and borrowed the part from them. Still wasted an extra 2.5 hrs and they didn't buy me lunch, give me coupon/free oil change, nothing. lol

Had the recall done yesterday. I must say, it did help quite a bit. I have virtually no dead spot at center, where as before it was like 2-3 inches of play.. The steering itself is more firm, takes a bit more effort to steer, but feels good. Went on the highway this morning and it actually tracks straight!!

Feels like it should have from the beginning, very happy with the recall. They installed 2 new damper's fyi.

My dealer put me on a wait list for this recall. They said they only get a certain number of parts, and canā€™t order them for me. Does this sound right?

Yes. The dealer will service the cars they sold first. Did you buy it from them? If so, I would call back and say you bought it there and remind them.
