Please keep us posted of your build. Sounds like it is going to be a nice one.
I had wanted to try a long barrel for a while, so last year I built an inexpensive upper with a 24" 223 Wylde AR-Stoner, not thinking we'd use it very often. I'd guess between my boy and I, we put at least 3X as many rounds through it than the 16" uppers.
I sure will! The 5.56 that I posted above has a 20” White Oak barrel. Shoots great at 450 yards with no problem at all. We have a firing range that lets you shoot all the way to 900 yards. That’s and the speed of the bullett is why I decided to go with the 224 Valkyrie. It stays supersonic to around 1400fps at 1000 yards where the 223/5.56 is already in the 900fps range.

Picked up my upper and lower receivers from Wyoming Arms in Cody Wyoming today. It’s going to be used for my 224 Valkyrie build. Next step is sending the barrel out to 300 Below to get it cryo treated. Once that’s done I’ll be able to start on building my rifle.

Just wanted to pop in here and say Hi! I have a few fun toys. Okay, maybe more than a few. (My gun nut family thinks I have a gun problem. My only problem is Im running out of room.) Im only a paper/skeet shooter, but Im hoping one of these days to go deer hunting with my uncle. Maybe when I dont live 3 states away and can legally hunt in the state of Texas.

I also have a problem of randomly buying pocket knives. Theyre not even really good knives, I just always feel like I need a knife on me at all times.

Truth is, CA resident gun owners are buying a shit ton of mags right now. I doubt they are buying them with the intention of turning them in if a court reverses this.

Well started working on my lower receiver for my 224 Valkyrie build. So far, Wyoming Arms upper/lower billet receivers, Geissele SD-E 3.5 lbs trigger, PWS buffer tube, Hogue grip, Odin Works extended magazine release, Phase 5 extended bolt release, LWRC ambi safety, Troy ambi mag release, Stainless steel black extended takedown and pivot pins, Luth-AR stock.

Still to come, White Oak Armament 224 Valkyrie 1-7 twist 24” fluted/bead blasted stainless steel barrel (packed and ready to send to 300 Below for cryo treatment), JP Precision 17” handguard M-LOK, Geissele super 42 double twisted wire buffer spring with H1 buffer, Lantac Dragon/Gentec bi-lock 5/8x24 muzzle brake, AXTS black titanium forward assist, Strike Industries UDC dust cover,
Geissele Sand ambi-dexterous charging handle. Still not sure what type of scope, and mount I’ll put on the rifle. Have Vortex on my other rifles, and may go with a Vortex Razor Gen II 4.5-27x56, or maybe a Nightforce.

Curious if there is anyone else that shoots (competitive or recreational) or collects/makes blades as a hobby. What do you have or looking to collect?

I’ve got a ton of rail spikes collected. About to make a few new things with myself, got an idea for a tomahawk I’ve been wanting to do.
A little shooting/collecting of this and that. No knife making/collecting to speak of.

40 years ago, I tried my hand at practical pistol comp. Didn't stick with it. Scary looking people around. Wanted to get away from them.

Did a lot of hunting rifle (bolt action) load work and accuracy stuff. Built a few sporting rifle walnut stocks. Did some checkering. Built up some bolt action guns, cut the chambers, crowned muzzles, threaded the barrels and headspaced them.

A couple years ago, I built a 1911 in 9mm for my wife. A lot of custom features like a welded on magwell and checkered front strap and checker-matted slide top. A good bit of milling machine work. A bit more involved than what people call "building" an AR, where you buy a bunch of parts and assemble them.

Between jobs 25 or so years back, I used to do gunsmithing for a handful of gun shops in the LA area, back when I had a little machine shop.

In the past 15 years, I've mostly focused on sxs shotguns and hunting with them. I've had a few bird dogs in that time, my first was a Lab, followed by two English Pointers. Upland birds is my passion these days. I really enjoy hunting with a .410 sxs.

Once in a while, I'll shoot a local sporting clays contest for fun.

But I've always been an equipment guy. I do some stock refinishing and blueing of double shotgun barrels.

Some fantastic looking pieces in this thread!! A great selection from classic lever guns to modern CZ scorpions with braces. Love it! Jeeps and guns go hand in hand. I've been collecting and shooting since I was a kid. Tragically all my guns were lost in a tragic canoe accident.

I am part of a group of holster makers that will make and donate holsters for disabled vets. Here is one going to a well deserving Beretta M9 A1 owner. Sure hope he likes it, we can't thank these guys and their families enough for their courage and sacrifice.

Tragically my jet ski sank with this aboard in deep water. Now, I have no guns!

I had a similar tragedy. To make matters worse, it was at night, I was disoriented, and I have no idea of the location it happened at.

Pistol and long gun, and compound bow. I shoot on our property. About the only thing left on my list is I would like to have an M1 carbine, but that’s not going to happen for awhile.

We have about a dozen weapons, evenly split between long and short guns. The long includes two military (civilian spec, obviously) platforms and a shotgun.
