Next week I'm headed for Colorado - not necessarily a "Jeepin' trip" but I'd like to spend a few days seeing some nature and maybe kinda see what my Jeep can do.

I'll be near the Dillon Reservoir with my functionally-stock Moab (I do have plenty of recovery gear if needed ;)). Not necessarily looking for anything overly challenging, just some fun and interesting site-seeing.

I've found a few places that seem interesting - Montezuma, Deer Creek, Glacier Mountain, Bald Mountain, Boreas Pass, and a few others. Just looking for some advice from others who know the area...

I was on Boreas last weekend. It is a former rail line, so nothing very challenging. Just a bumpy road with some great views. Plenty of crossovers and even one or two brave sedans.

I haven't done Red Cone yet, but it sounds like they just opened it up last week. Definitely a bit more challenging from what I read. And the hill decent has a good pucker factor.

I use https://www.trailsoffroad.com/ to scout my trails.

Thanks for all the great suggestions! Don't know how much time I'll have for hitting these trails but looks like I have plenty of good options. And thanks @baggio16 for your input as well - I'll make sure to stop in there at least once!

A quick follow-up question... do I need to be concerned about any wildlife/pests? Just wondering if I need to worry about poisonous snakes/insects or anything like that. I can legally carry weapons there if needed I guess.

Not really Jeep related, but the Dillon Dam Brewery is one of my favorite places ever!
Dad jokes galore in the Dam brewery! Drove my daughter crazy with them when we visited earlier this summer.

Hagerman Pass - Leadville

Some of the high elevation trails are still snow covered, check status before you head out.
According to the Colorado Off Road Trails Report (on Facebook), Mosquito Pass is now full opened. A group went out there and dug out the last snow drift. It was friggin amazing that someone did that.

I’m going on Saturday. Going to start on the Alma side and drive to Leadville.

Stock Rubicon good for trails like that? Thanks!
