As messed up as it is, they're not forcing us to buy a Rubicon. It's like going to an Apple store on launch day wanting to buy a green iphone, but they only have red ones that cost $100 more, so if you want that green one you have to wait. Or buy a red one. They “ can’t charge you for something you are not asking for...... especially when they are forcing you to purchase an upgrade you do not want!
Unfortunately, they can and they will. While they can force you to purchase the unwanted "upgrade", they can't force you to buy the Jeep. You can always say NO. It's a conscious decision you have to make. In my case, the decision was already made about getting a MY20 Rubicon, so when the system refused to order the stock wheels, I had no choice but to order it the way it would let me.They “ can’t charge you for something you are not asking for...... especially when they are forcing you to purchase an upgrade you do not want!
I don't see a conspiracy theory, I see shitty customer service that can't be assed to give us an ETA.I know the pitch forks and conspiracy theories are already flying but isn’t the simpler explanation that there is a supply issue with the standard Rubicon wheels? If so, wouldn’t it make sense to still allow orders with the other wheels that are available?
What conspiracy theory do you have for them not allowing ALP and AEK to be ordered together?
You accept paying more for something you don't want? I don't see your logic, unless you've already arranged with the dealer to buy/swap...I already knew that I was going to change the wheels and tires out anyways, so this made it a little easier to accept. However, if I were planning on only running stock, things might have went down differently.
They didn’t have any insight on alp+aek but I wouldn’t blame them if they hoped I bought something else instead of complaining around here XD@JeepCares do you have any insight on this issue?
Plenty of people in this thread have accepted the idea that this is the result of a shortage of the standard wheels.I know the pitch forks and conspiracy theories are already flying but isn’t the simpler explanation that there is a supply issue with the standard Rubicon wheels? Exactly. To me, and most, it’s not an “upgrade” at all. It’s disappointing because I think Jeep, as a whole, is much more in tune with its customers than most. But, this just stinks of a situation where some Italian guy at FCA who’s never seen a Wrangler is setting the price of the “upgrade” and then making the decision to force it on people whether they like it or not to either get rid of overstock or maybe they are truely out of the standard wheel. I’m sure this kind of stuff happens to dealers all the time when they order their stock. It’s still frustrating though. And no transparency or response from Jeep on the issue. Frustrating.Plenty of people in this thread have accepted the idea that this is the result of a shortage of the standard wheels.
No one here has suggested it was a cash grab or any other conspiracy.
People are upset because they are paying more for something that would appear to cost the same for Jeep to produce. Most people seem to have preferred the standard wheels, but seem to be willing to accept the “upgrades”. They are not so excited about paying $1k for wheels they do not prefer.
Hi dblack,@JeepCares do you have any insight on this issue?
