Finally put a deposit down on a Sting Gray Rubicon. Trying to decide between the black leather or tan leather. I'll be going with color match top and fender flairs. I prefer the black leather because I think it will hold up better and not show dirt or wear like the tan, plus I think it goes better with Gray. But my wife and daughter prefer the tan as they said the black will be hot in the summer, especially with the top off. Love to hear pros and cons on both. Also wondering what most are choosing that are ordering Sting Gray. Thanks for your opinions.

I’m going to order a sting gray black interior for same reason. I think it will hold up better than tan over the years. I have a Yukon Denali with a tan interior and it looks worn. Not a big deal if you own the car for 2-3 years but now it is 7 years old and doesn’t look great.

A dealer took a deposit for a vehicle they can’t order yet?
I had a trade that I turned in early to pick up a extra $1000 on it. They fully disclosed actual order with jeep couldn't be placed until Sting Gray is available, which they estimated March.

FACT: Tan leather is still going to get hot, especially with the top off.
FACT: Tan leather will show dirt and wear more quickly than black leather.
OPINION: Black leather goes *much* better with gray than tan leather does.
OPINION: Black leather will make it easier to resell.

Tan looks great in the computer generated image, but it is not that color.
It is a whole lot lighter and not a Jeep color IMO. Looks like it belongs in a Cadillac or Lexus.
You would really have to see the tan leather in person to decide. I took one look at the dealership and slammed the door.
Go black!

Yup. The tan leather is not attractive at all in person.
I don't know. Video from DC AutoShow with the Tan Leather in Sahara looks pretty nice. I'm certainly considering tan leather interior for Sting Gray Sahara. The Sahara dash however I think looks better with tan than does the Rubicon. But will have to see in person first before deciding.

I was interested in the tan leather, but I saw a Sahara with it yesterday (it was a black JLUS w/ the Tan Interior) and I noticed something strange that turned me off of it, which was the texture. It may have been a one off, but on the driver's seat the left side was completely smooth, but the right side had texture and this made it look very strange. I haven't seen in person or felt any other tan leather JLUs, but I didn't notice this on any of the black ones I've seen. Perhaps was a one off issue, but if this unevenness bothers you (to me it just didn't look 'right'), then maybe something to go take a look at for yourself at a dealer.

My exact response when I hear people talk about gray vehicles with tan leather.......

That being said, buy what makes you (and your family) happy.

I never would of considered Gray with tan leather until I saw these pics. It does have a retro vibe to it. To bad that couldn't give us a real full view pic instead of teaser pic.

I had a tan leather seat on one of my Matte Silver motorcycles that I would switch around with a black leather seat. Had a old school look, but there will be no switching leather on the Jeep.

As the guys mentioned.. the black leather will be easier to remove dirt.
And if you are going to buy a Rubicon not Sahara.. the black is better because it make a contrast red with the Rubicon sticker (outside) the red stitching interior & wheel drive & also the red instrumental guages (which will be orange in Sahara & Sport) but if u order the tan leather, the stitching will be white instead of red although the sticker outside in red!!
I think the red (stitching & plastic) in the Rubicon interior is very unique :involve:

By the way, I really like & prefer the tan interior on Sahara
