I’ve searched for this and cannot find anything specific to the new wranglers. I have a JLU Rubicon and have been using my Console USB port (media input 2) for my iPhone and CarPlay. It has worked perfectly until today. I’ve checked fuses, and swapped phone cords with no luck. Other USB ports work and support CarPlay but I cannot figure out what happened to the console USB port.

The weird thing is that after my Jeep is turned off and not on accessory mode, the console port starts to actively charge my phone. It does not charge my phone or even show a connection with the Jeep on but for whatever reason works with the Jeep off.

Any help or tricks? I cannot figure out how to reboot the Uconnect either. Thanks guys

I had the same issue on the way to work yesterday, but after it sat for 8 hours it was fine on the way home. I had no issues today with it. My 15 Ram I’ve had flakey issues once in a while, but it seems after it sits they go away.

Having the same issue! But none of my ports are supporting carplay all of the sudden, the usb port 2 is a complete dud, doesn’t charge or anything. The other two just charge my phone but won’t pull up apple carplay. On the phone with Uconnect smh

And now it works again... pray for me.
I’m having this same issue now. CarPlay was working fine this morning. Wouldn’t pull up this afternoon. Tried both USB ports. Both charge, but CarPlay won’t initiate.

Anybody find a solution to this yet?

I just posted this on another thread:

This is strange but I decided to sit in the back and have my sis drive around. I noticed that the USB lights on the rear were not lit. I plugged in my phone and nothing. It was not charging. I went ahead and started opening the little plastic cover for the 120-volt port and noticed that the light will turn on and off. After playing around with it, I closed it until the lights were on and bam all of them started working, even the middle compartment one.

Is this normal? Can someone who has the same issue try it out.

Hi jroman,

Although we cannot provide any technical advice, feel free to send us a direct message if you'd like to have your Jeep dealer take a look. We'd be glad to help with this process.

Yesterday I hooked my phone up via USB-C and was using Android Auto. When I left for work last night, I plugged the phone back into USB C. The port works for charging but Android Auto no longer works. It works fine with the standard USB port. Really odd.

Went to service and they still couldn’t fix it. They’ll be ordering the back usb media hub since it’s a little loose. They said there was an error code on the radio and now the dashboard USB-C is not pulling up CarPlay but it’s charging. Great

I think it's a software issue. Mine worked yesterday. I unplugged my phone from it and switched off of Android Auto before turning the Jeep off. When I left work, I powered on, plugged my phone in and Android Auto worked through the port, and has worked since as long as I disconnect the phone before shutting the Jeep off.

Yeah it worked again a couple of minutes ago. So the rear ports are definitely loose for me because if I play around with them, the outline lighting turns on and off. The middle compartment one (USB 2) is the one not working at all. Does anybody know if that one is connected to same piece as the rear ones? Hopefully, the new part they order fixes this issue. So annoying

Have your dealer check the USB connection to the head unit. Mine was loose and that corrected the issue.
