Ours is an Rpod 182g. Somewhere around 2700lbs dry. It has electric brakes, and I’ll install a controller before long trips, and I’m already using a WDH. So far (only super short trips), it’s been great. Minimal sag with a regular hitch. You can feel the difference when the WDH is installed. With it, it tows as good as our Grand Cherokee, but with a bit more mush due to the tire sidewalls. Otherwise, once I get a brake controller, I think we’re in!

Thinking about doing the exact same setup.

Did you change out your hitch to a class 3 for the WDH?

Our hybrid. About 3100 unloaded so we are right at the Max loaded up. Pulls great but a weight distribution hitch is mandatory.

that is a great set up. we had a 23' hybrid that was awesome for the family. easy to tow, and yet plenty of room to hang.

W/D hitches are lifesavers

Towing with Airlift 1000 bags......like it’s not even there.

What brand air bag kit are you using?

What brand airbag kit are you using? I don’t know much about them but I’m considering a set for my rig in the post above yours.

Airlift 1000 bags......easy install, if your lifted you’ll need to measure the inside of your coils in the rear, then just give them a call and they recommend a kit that will fit.

We’re almost ready to go with the R-Pod 180 or 189. Seems like it hits all the notes we’re interested in. The hybrids are very nice too. We had Coyote a few RVs ago. Only down side was even with tents in great shape, we always seemed to get wet inside now and then. The canvas roof would sweat in cold weather. And you had to dry it out after a trip before storing it for a while. But you certainly get a ton more room and 2 real beds.

Dumb question. What are the bags for? Do they replace a weight distributing hitch?
Air bags do not replace a load-levelling system. It's like having stronger, adjustable springs in the back to keep the Jeep rear-end from sagging under load. Works well to keep it level with passengers or other load too, not just towing.
