So I'm having an issue that I would like to share with the group to see if anyone has had the same and may have feedback on what to do. So last week Thursday I was driving down the road at about 55 mph. All of a sudden I lost engine power and even with the pedal all the way to the floor the engine would only make 1,500 RPM. I pulled over to the side of the road and the engine was shuddering and idling roughly. I called Chrysler Mopar roadside assistance who ordered a tow truck for me. After waiting an hour in the sweltering heat I called the tow company and they were still two hours out. Rush hour had died down by then so I nursed it home and found that I could get it up to 45 with a lot of runway but acceleration was minimal. Anyway, I set up an appointment to have it towed to Capitol CDJR of Indian Trail the next morning. Tow truck arrived on time and we headed over. I called the dealership on the way over but nobody would answer the phone even though they were open. Had the tow truck driver drop me there and walked into the service drive. I was informed by the service advisor that they wouldn't be able to look at the jeep for two days and didn't have any loaners. I responded that this was unacceptable due to the fact that this was obviously a warranty issue. They responded I could contact Chrysler direct and "maybe" they would reimburse me for a rental. So I called the next closest dealership which happened to be Keffer who immediately said no problem and that they would get me a rental if they didn't have a loaner available. After another two hour tow truck wait I was able to drop it with Keffer. After five days of working on it they deduced a hose to the ECS had come loose. I was relieved to hear that maybe this was a simple fix. I picked the Jeep up yesterday and 8 miles down the road it broke down on the side of the highway with the same issue. Keffer was good enough to meet me with the same loaner vehicle and take responsibility for towing it back to the dealership. I spoke with the advisor a minute ago and he said the hose blew off again and that their tech thinks its a defective ECS hose and is ordering a new one. I'm a little concerned that this may not be the true issue. Anyone have the same problem and if so what was the fix?

My 2018 Jeep Rubicon JL has had the Service Electronic Stability Control light come on twice, took to dealership yesterday, they said they did an update and it is ok. Pulled out of parking lot and bam it came back on along with another light for stop/start. Backed up,took it back in, they said let me get the error codes off and it is ok for you to drive until next week. I said ok, well I saw it drive out of the parking lot 5 times. Every time they got one light off something else come on, the tech Dwight told me it would be ok to drive. I said I don't feel safe driving it with different lights popping up every few minutes. It is an electrical problem. They took it back and it starting showing Brakes need calibrating, the ESC light on, other lights on. Funny thing is those lights weren't coming on except for the ESC light before taking it in. After being at dealership 4.5 hours, they finally said we have put a call into JEEP and waiting on them to call back we better keep your jeep. They gave me a Renegade to drive. Haven't heard from dealership yet today. Went back to dealership on Friday, they said we have you ready, signed paperwork, pulled out of parking lot and it lit up like a Christmas tree again. Turned it around took it back, they could not believe lights on again. He took it back, gave me the same Renegade to drive and said it will probably be Monday before we can get it fixed. Just turning the lights off and resetting, NOT WORKING. Didn't have this problem until they did an update to fix the ESC light...ā€¦.. They have had my Jeep since 6/6/19 this time. Now they say it is a vacuum hose. I hope this fixes it. Update- Jeep dealership could not fix my jeep. They bought it back and I got a new 2019 sting gray rubi with a one touch sky top......love it. At least they made it right.

Thanks for monitoring this forum and reaching out. I have created a case number and everyone is working to resolve the issue. Current ETA to have the Jeep back in hand will be Monday 06/10. This will mean a total repair time of 11 calendar days. Hopefully everything is resolved by then.

Had the same issue on Friday, service electronic throttle/stability errors and full loss of power on the highway (super dangerous obviously, was barely able to get over and almost in a collision).

Jeep wouldn't start after that. Was in a dead spot, unable to call out for a tow or use the assist button. Thankfully a disconnect of the battery reset all the computer systems and it started right back up, all errors check engine lights, etc. went away and I was able to drive the 700 miles home without issue, perfectly normal.

Still taking it in this week to see what codes it threw and why this happened, such a frustrating issue and leaves you constantly guessing if its going to happen again.

Been having the same issues since 1/2/2019 (picked up JLU Sport S 12/27/18).
Been to dealer twice and can not replicate issue. Been told there is nothing they can do.
Will be moving dealers in hopes of resolution but not holding my breathe.
Seems FCA is just fine with their dealers not taking the time to resolve the issues on a $40k vehicle that is a pure profit machine.

Don't blame FCA for that, that's been Jeep's guiding philosophy for at least twenty-five years, if not longer.

Dealers had that same attitude with YJs and TJs and it seems that though prices have skyrocketed they still feel no need to change their ways because people keep buying the things.

Hi Swartz2017,
We certainly understand your frustration. Unfortunately, dealer's do need to be able to replicate a concern in order to identify the proper repair. If you would like to continue working with a dealer towards a resolution, please send our team a private message and we would be happy to escalate a case for you to add additional assistance to this process!

Update on mine: dealer said "found circuit F856 5 volt supply has an intermittent open at PCM C2" and they determined I Needed a new wiring harness (PN: 68282860-AG)... part was special ordered and is being installed. Will be hard to tell if it's fixed or not since it took me 14,000 miles for this to happen in the first place.

Update...ended up being a bad ā€œECS Vacuum Hoseā€. It took the dealership a while to get the replacement hose kit but all seems well with the Jeep.

I have had similar issues with mine, and it has not been resolved yet. We have a 2018 Wrangler JL 4 CYL. We continue to have problems with the vehicle since we made the purchase January of 2019. We have had it in for check engine lights now three times since May 11th, the check engine light has cycled on and off since early February.

5/11/19
First visit I had the oil changed and check engine light checked, they cleared the crankshaft position sensor code. It was a weekend and the mechanic that could inspect this was not in, so if the light came on we would need to bring it back.

5/17/19
Check engine light came back on, brought the car back in and they performed a flash update.

Shortly after this the light would come back on then go off after a day or two.

Over the 4th of July weekend my wife was driving the car and once she had been on the open highway for 30+ miles she witnessed a loss of power, one time having to pull over put the car in park and then putting it back in drive. I drove it and found the same thing and the stability control light came on and then turned off.

7/11/19

Brought the car in and the issue could not be duplicated, Customer Service Rep suggested letting the technician drive the car home (about 14 miles) to see if he could get the alarm to happen. From experience it will not happen that quickly, around town we do not see the issue. I suggested getting on the highway and driving, CSR stated that could not be done. I picked the car up and starting documenting as things happen.

Picked the car up with 6,478 miles on it, no alarm present
6,515 alarm came on, no apparent issue.
6528 alarm cleared out on next start up
6,569 alarm came on, no apparent issue
6,579 alarm cleared out on next start up

7/14/19

Sunday morning (8:30-10:30) we drove about 100 miles on the highway no issues

Sunday afternoon (2:30) we got back on the highway, after about 40 miles of open road driving (50-70MPH) the car lost power. This was at 6,726 miles I had to pull over put the car back in park and then back in drive. The D on the dashboard was blinking, it did this each time it lost power. The warning lights were changing rapidly, but I believe it said electronic throttle malfunction. Put car in park and then select gear.

At mileage 6,760 we were on a major highway in the right lane going 70MPH, lost power had to pull over. I put the car in park and then tried to shift back to drive. It would no come out of park, pushed the button to turn the car off and all sorts of lights were flashing rapidly. When I tried to start it the warning lights stated it was not in park. I could not shift at all, and all the letters on the gear shifter were all orange (PRND). We waited about five minutes and the car started and we headed on again. One of the warning lights that flashed was the electronic throttle warning. The stability control light also came one. These came on a couple times the rest of the trip.

6,768, same situation on the highway, died and I was able to turn on and keep moving.

6,776, we had gotten off the highway and the car died as I attempted to make a right from a stoplight. Pulled over put in park and started the car.

6,813, this time we were going up a hill at 50 mph the car lost power but I was able to just lift my foot off the accelerator wait a couple of seconds and then slight press the accelerator and we kept going.

6,817 car in the garage, engine light still on.

The times when this has happened is in the heat of the day on the highway. It does not happen in the first 30-40 miles, so we need to find a way to have you test it in these conditions. I also noticed if you could keep the RPM below 2,000 that helped as well, but that might have been just dumb luck. When it died on the right turn from a stop I babied it the whole way home, only issue was going up the hill at 50MPH when it might have cross the 2,000 rpm mark.

7/16/19

I drove the car to my office, about 40 miles. I tried to maintain an RPM level below 2,000 and to not exceed 45 MPH as I drove in. I had no issues and pulled into a gas station, after filling up I experienced the issue again.

Started the car, could not shift out of gear and the same alarms popped up. Electronic Thrust Control and stability alarm, the engine light had been on previously and remained on. I turned the car off and waited about 5 minutes, started the car and then was able to shift out of park. I little red light came on the dash (under the 2H-4H selection).

Dealer has had the car since the 16th of July, it will be two full weeks tomorrow. They were able to replicate the issue, but as of Saturday have not found the source. The service manager has done a very good job of communicating, but unfortunately have not pin pointed the issue.

The Jeep was in the shop for one month, they finally found the issue. It was a loose ground wire! They isolated Ground G 909B, it had high resistance. Found a loose Ground lug nut, cleaned and tightened it. Have driven about 150 miles, so far so good.

I wanted to throw my similar issue into the discussion as well. 2019 JLUR with just under 12,000 miles has been at the dealer basically since Tuesday 7/23/19 for CEL and even though they see the codes in the computer, they claim they need to "make it happen" and run diagnostics while the code is active. They've driven it several times without event. I even picked it up Wednesday evening because they said they couldn't diagnose anything further until they saw it "live". I drive less than 5 miles and it happened to me twice. Stopped and started the engine and the CEL and all warnings want away. I called them and they told me to bring it back. They've had it since Thursday morning with no updates.

Isn't there an OBD2 Plug In that would record all these abberations as you drive ? It "should" give a real time graph and description of what's going on ?

I would think so as well, that is why I documented the mileage when things happened. I was told they are not able to match up the alarms to anything, only way to determine is to drive it and replicate the problem. The latest is "they need to drive it and isolate the circuit that is causing the concern. It is very time consuming but once it's down to the circuit causing the issue, he can tear into the wiring and find it." Basically they have no idea what is causing the issue!
