Where did you get that rear cargo net. Looks great.
Dirtydog 4x4. I ordered red first but chickened out. High quality but you pay for it as they are kind of expensive. It’s the 3 piece set. I also got their sun shades in black as well as their dog hammock.

The theory of tube doors sounds good but in a true side impact do they offer much protection or will they just fold in on the occupant when hit?

Has anyone had an experience on or off road where they saved an injury or such?

Looking for first hand experiences or data.
I purchased tube doors with air bags so all good here

Could a tube door break in an impact and impale the occupant with the remaining sharp ends?
Surely premium Chinese steel wouldn't do that, would it?;)

I think they make you feel better, which is fine. I also imagine some are right here that they might keep legs from flailing out, assuming they stay shut in the impact, which they probably would not do.

I think they do offer some help in keeping the kids' feet inside the Jeep and offer a small amount of containment for them when riding around. It would be nice if they locked.

Of course they do. They are an impediment to body parts going outside the Jeep, and at least some kinds of external stuff coming into the Jeep.

Sure...and a jet engine could fall of a plane and smash you in your jeep. Anything is possible.

I got the inexpensive tube doors from EAS off amazon for a few reasons: looks cool, keeps legs in jeep, keeps large items in jeep, keeps kids in jeep and it looks cool (yes mentioned twice because it does look cool)

I went with the Chinese doors because living in MN I can use them like 3 days a year so didn’t want to invest a lot. If I lived in CA maybe I’d have gotten OEM. Honestly though I’m very happy with my Chinese doors. They get me 10% off at the local buffet.
It's pretty easy to see the difference.

do you have them. They are seriously some heavy doors.
Can you both please tell me which doors you have? I love them both and am deciding

All depends on the crash you are going to have.

It’s like buying a puffy jacket and saying it’s more protection if you fall. Technically it’s true but that’s not really why you buy it.

How safe they are is all mostly speculation until someone starts doing crash tests. There are a lot of factors involved.

Take a look at the descriptions on any of these doors from the manufacturers. Do they mention safety?

One description calls them "a useful visual barrier."

EAG says "Warning: This product is intended for off-road use only. It is not designed as a safety restraint device."

Stop fooling yourself! If you want the tube doors fine get them. But they are not designed for safety. If they give you protection in an accident that is is dumb luck - not by design.
