I know people say its not the tires, but 11 months later and 10,000 miles mines drives petty good now. It's not perfect but it's a heck of a lot better than when I first bought it. At first it was a white knuckle experience and my wife drove it once and would not drive it anymore. Now she drives it all the time and likes to. The only thing I can think of that is breaking in is the tires, (I've rotated them twice). It still likes to wander a little bit but not to bad. I'd say it's 90% of where it shoud be and I'd really like to get that last 10%. Just don't know what to change, I did install the FOX steering stabilizer but that didn't do much if anything.

I dropped of my Jeep at the dealership today, I had all the star cases printed and they ignored them. They said they would replace the LCA and steering damper (which I believe was already replaced). I told them when Jeep called me they said they were going to change out the damper and trackbar with new AE models. The tech said he would have to speak to the regional rep about the trackbar. Anyway they donā€™t have the damper in stock so Iā€™m in a rental until at least Monday. The dealership is not friendly or willing to listen at all. Iā€™m addition they said they hadnā€™t even heard of the star cases I printed out.

i drove mine to Dallas weekend before last. By the time i got to Dallas i was worn out, drifted back and forth the whole 4 hour trip. at first i thought it was because it was a little windy, but i kept checking my mirrors and vehicles beside and in front of me and none of them were back and forth in the lane. this is after my dealer checked and re-torgued the front suspension/steering bolts that weren't correct. it felt some what better on city roads, beat my ass on the highway and made me dread the ride back home. by far the worst driving vehicle i have ever had. looks like it is off to the dealer again, rental car, time wasted etc etc etc

Iā€™m at a loss.

My Jeep is ā€œdoneā€. They told me they all of a sudden got the damper they told me they wouldnā€™t get until Monday at the earliest. They changed the steering damper (damper was supposedly replaced in October before I bought the vehicle) and LCA, and tightened some things. When I asked about the trackbar Jeep Cares said would be replaced, they said the regional manager denied it.

On top of that they have the biggest chip on their shoulder when they call me, they always have an attitude and cut me off when I try to talk.

Unfortunately I donā€™t have many options for Jeep dealers around here.

Has anyone else had the dealer only to the damper and LCAā€™s?

Iā€™ve messaged you guys before and have a case. I apparently have an even newer case number. When I called Jeep today the rep said a regional manager can override anything that I was told over the phone by Jeep Cares.

My case manager originally said they would be replacing the track bar and damper with new parts. The dealer had other ideas.

Whatā€™s the point of opening a case, being told parts would be replaced if a dealer is going to do what they want and escalating to the regional manager results in a denial?

That kinda defeats the purpose of a "JeepCares", doesn't it?

I had literally the same thing happen, in my case the regional manager etc. denied the track bar until I went and did a ride along. Once the ride along was done they approved it. Don't give up hope, I would check why it was denied, and see if maybe same thing for you. They just want more info to determine if maybe you actually need more parts. In my case they ended up replacing more than just the track bar. I know it's tough, but if you can keep calm and be patient things should work out in the end. Maybe not ideal, but it seems on here quite a few of us were taken care of eventually.

Attached is the service invoice and what they did. LCA and Damper.

I drove it from the dealership to my work, about 20 minutes, 40MPH speed limit. I did get above 50MPH in some areas and something feels different. The 3 or so inches of play are still there, but it doesn't wander as much (IT STILL WANDERS THOUGH). I can keep the wheel straight and not have to correct as much, I also get feedback when I'm to the left or the right of the play in the steering wheel, as if the Jeep is telling me "Nope, just keep the steering wheel straight and I'll continue to go in a straight line.ā€
I'm going to give it a 30% improvement in wandering, 0% in steering wheel play.

Hello Markham,

Case Specialists are not trained technicians so if you were told the track bar and damper would be replaced, they were told this by your dealer. They rely on them for vehicle information. Opening a case is always beneficial as it allows vehicle concerns to be tracked. Case Specialists also utilizes every resource given to help the dealer work toward a solution.I went ahead and documented your feedback for review. If you have any other questions about the details of your case, let me know.

Lower Control Arms ? Why ? Its the trackbar and drag link that is causing issues. The lower control arms donā€™t improve anything unless you get the mopar lift kit ones that change the caster.

Youā€™ve got me.

Yesterday I went to the dealers website and made another service appointment.

All I want is the trackbar and drag link replaced. The track bar at a bare minimum. It seems those two things are what others are having more success with.

Replaced the crappy track bar with a JKS adjustable. Wandering is gone. The rubber bushing on the OEM is very soft, I can use a screwdriver and move it by hand. Now that I have the Synergy drag link and JKS track bar, my steering issues solved.

I concur with Chadc880, have the track bar and drag link checked/replaced first! The only reason I paid out of pocket, unavailability of the drag link and dealer refusing to replace track bar.

Fixed my steering issue. lol.
After speaking to the GM and etc. They agreed to let me return the car since itā€™s only been 7 days. I then went to Toyota and picked me up a new TRD off-road. Even saved some money on insurance vs Jeep. Lol

No way in hell I want to deal with this on a brand new car. Donā€™t got the time for it. I bought a brand new car to be trouble free. I got enough old Hondas that need tinkering. Lol

You definitely got lucky with the "return policy". Good luck with your new vehicle, time for you to switch over to the 4 runner forum I guess.

A little clarification here...I apparently misunderstood my case manager (who has been great keeping in touch and informing me of the next steps). She apparently did not say they would replace the track bar and dampener, she just said there were new part numbers for those parts and itā€™s up to the dealer to diagnose and change what they think needs to be done. My case manager clearly understands there is a loose steering issue with my Jeep where there is play in the steering wheel and is communicating to the dealer. Hopefully when it goes back on the 30th they will change out the track bar and drag link, and possibly the steering box.
