For any of you who have experienced issues with the UConnect system, including missing grid lines, black screen, etc., have you opened a case with @JeepCares? If not, why? After the continuing issues I experienced, I did open a case. After months, they replaced my UConnect system last week, despite my insistence that it is a software issue, not a hardware issue. Low and behold, my issues continued this week even after the replacement. It seems that Jeep is incapable of recognizing their issues. I have asked to speak directly with UConnect engineers, as I have photos and video of the issues, but the JeepCares email system wonā€™t allow attachments.

To further complicate the matter, after the system replacement, I lost functionality of the WiFi hotspot. I called AT&T, and they said that the dealer needs to submit a wholesale order to update the SIM card associated with my VIN so my services continues. I called my dealer, and they had no idea. He kept telling me I needed to turn off my phone and restart it. He couldnā€™t understand that had nothing to do with it. Called my @JeepCares case manager back, and he had no idea what I was talking about either.

So, long story short, am I the only one getting the runaround from Jeep? Also, if you are having issues and havenā€™t opened a case with Jeep case, Iā€™m asking you to take time to do it. Maybe if they get mass complaints, they will finally recognize the issue and release another update to fix the problem they created with the last one.

there has been some discussion in these forums regarding a potential role of faulty backup cameras in this issue, I dunno if there is a link or not but might be something to investigate
I would think the grid lines are part of the UConnect itself, but not sure. Iā€™ve also had the radio itself completely freeze up numerous times.

I've had one strange UConnect issue. I pressed the touch screen and shut my driver door at the same time and got a case of the never-ending door-ajar ding. Not ding ding ding but more like diiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii. The sound was superimposed over the radio output (which still worked, I could switch channels, am to fm to sxm, all that). I tried all manner of button presses, opening and closing doors, turning off ignition and back on, letting the car sit for 30 mins, etc. and the ding would just not go away. I even did two different resets of the UConnect system (press volume and tuning knobs for five seconds AND the reset item from the menu) and nothing worked. Doing the reset ticked me off too because I knew it would erase my radio channel presets, which it did. The UConnect was obviously stuck in some kind of infinite software loop. Finally, I pulled the fuse for the radio and it fixed it. BTW, if you open the fuse box, the radio fuse is in the front corner, the third closest fuse. Almost as if they knew you would be pulling it...

The good news is, after replacing the fuse, not only was the ding noise gone, but my presets were back! FM, AM, and SXM! Go figure.

On mine the back up camera grid lines disappear randomly, then start working again randomly.

It's impossible for Uconnect to reset itself on my JL. I've had this problem ever since the Off Road Pages download. This has resulted in many irritating issues with readouts and usability of basic dash functions (AC, Radio, Blank Screens, ...). Waiting for June to see if Unconnect gets its act together. Took it into a dealer last year ... they did not know how to reset Uconnect.

Uconnect is slowly getting worse ... major software issue ... if Uconnect could figure out how to reset their system, all these issues would go away. Mechanics at dealerships don't understand Unconnect software ... probably do not have a buddy/buddy relationship at Uconnect ... because it's software, not something mechanical made of iron or aluminum.

Refused to let the JL stay at a dealer for a week or 2 while they chase their own tail. I've been made promises by Jeep service ... then have been ignored by the dealership in the following weeks ... even had my case closed out unilaterally ... i.e. the boss would rather have their people spend time on problems they know how to fix rather than fixing Uconnect reset software problems that they've had no understanding of.

Jeep needs to start a software based service with "Umechanics" that focus on Unconnect issues ... that includes Uconnect management in service ... bosses and their boss's bosses. If this happens, I would expect the "Umechanic" to say "yes, I've seen this problem before and know how to fix it" ... when I pull in with my JL and explain the Uconnect issue. Need results ... not any hand holding ... the blind leading the blind. Jeep service is too "old school".

The grid lines disappear on my back up camera randomly every so often. But today the whole back up camera went out and when I put it in reverse it stayed on the radio screen. So tired of the camera issues with the 2018 JL....

Uconnects tempermental. I'm just used to its issues at this point. I seriously doubt you'll find many of us with 1yr+ old Jeeps who haven't. The only time it really pisses me off is when I'm on a roadtrip and I lose android auto for the last leg of it, usually after plugging something into my other USB ports.

I've had the camera be black once or twice and that went away after a day, or after a restart.

Mine is far more reliable now than it was when I initially got it, thankfully, but I've upgraded my phone and use a usbc-usbc cable only to it. I also don't use my other USB ports AT ALL.

I as well am having annoying problems with UConnect in my new 2018 Jeep Rubicon. Today for the first time I experienced my rear camera assist not working on the display. It just went blank instead of showing me where I was backing into. I have had several issues with my Uconnect rebooting and also skipping like a record on some of the music. Very strange system. My dealership was kind enough to install another infotainment system but it still has issues. I could go on and on, but there is something not right with the setup or maybe there needs to be an update fix.

I second this... Don't plug any other devices into USB when using phone and AA. Plugged in some headphones to charge and lost connectivity to phone while using AA. Came back 3hrs later and everything was fine.

I think the head unit or media hub got confused when the headphones (which had music files stored). Letting the car sit may have shudown everything down to "reset" the connection... usb ports continue to provide power for a set duration when the vehicle is turned off.

Probably going back to a 12v charger to isolate devices when charging. Also thinking of trying charge-only cables...

I'm having similar issues with Apple car play. If I input a destination in Waze then connect my phone, it will not recognize or charge the phone until I shut off the Jeep and let it sit and reset. This is using both types of use cords. I will try pulling the fuse next time that it happens to see if I get a faster resolution.
