Is it just that I am doing a bad job of "pre-alignment" and removals or are the hardtop alignment pins made of a chalk like substance?
I always have to bump/wiggle the top a bit to get some of the pins to fall in the holes and the top to set all the way down.
I have only taken mine on/off a few times now and was surprised to see some of the pins are really worn down already from this.

Should these pins have replaceable plastic covers on them?

I also have had an issue with the drivers side rear pin (or something under there) hanging up when I try to remove the top.
I typiclay have to go inside and lift/wiggle the top for it to free up on that corner, all the other pins/corners come up freely.

Share with us your mechanism for lowering the top on to the tub.

Is it elbow grease, and if so, how many people are involved---or maybe you're using device like the Top Lift Pro do to this.

Devices that allow you to control the drop of the top on to the body without yet touching the JL during alignment, particularly because they're on wheels, will let you get close enough to align your pins before the final drop on to the tub rails.

Its been manpower so far. 2 or 4 people.
We try to get it in the right location but I still end up walking around and making some final adjustments so it sits down fully.

And as noted the driver side rear corner has hung up every lift.

those pins broke off the first time I took the top off... Also the electrical disconnect broke off too because it was so tight, so now it hangs by the wires.:headbang:

Otherwise things run smoothly now.

I fear that I am going to break that wiring harness.
Mine is super hard to get disconnected.

The bane of my existence is factory electrical connectors. I absolutely loathe them. Along with plastic wrap, I consider them my arch nemesis.

It gets easier the more you do it. It was just stupidly tight the first time though.
