It’s not an FCA thing. It's the individual dealers. I have had nothing but a great experience at my CDJRf dealership in Wilmington, NC. My JLU was my third Wrangler from them. Service Dept has been great, too.
Thanks to this forum and online reviews I already knew the features of the Jeep, but still let my salesman show me everything. Finance was great, too. Everything was already worked out when I went to get my JLU - factory order so there was time - and I was in and out in about an hour. That included the time for the salesman to show me how to use the Jeep. (I also taught him some things, too.)
Your mileage may vary.
If it’s the dealer I’m thinking of I must have gone in on a couple of “off” days.

Talked with a couple sales folks over the course of a few weeks and only one was a straight shooter. I play dumb to see how much BS they’ll push. I have zero tolerance for not knowing what you sell.

Unfortunately even the good sales rep I did talk to wouldn’t budge on 1% below invoice even though there were dealers within a couple hours doing 6%. I ended up buying elsewhere. I think he said the sales manager would not approve, lol.

I hope their service department wants my business more than their sales team did.

I love it when these dealers that treat you bad, then want to "talk" to you after the damage is done, I also talk to people at this dealership, they are too busy to treat you good and try to get the sale. This is a sign of bad management/ownership, nothing more. I would hate to be the Social Specialist for one of these dealers, they will never change. Someday they will be like Sears and spin out of business. Please speed up time, the sooner the better.

Why do new and used car dealerships have such a bad reputation?

Because they EARNED it... :(

Yup, dealerships are unnecessary middlemen. Those surveys count towards their commission. I ripped the dealer apart doing one after having my jeep serviced and the owner called my cell threatened me and my business in not so many words and banned me from the dealership he got from his daddy. Also a NJ dealer
Burlington??

Cherry hill is one of the worst dealers ive ever been into also. I wouldnt buy cold water from them if i was stranded in the desert.
I went to look at JLU's there originally and all the salesmen were in the parking lot blasting rap music as loud as possible out of the brand new jeeps on the lots. If I thought they were remotely professional and wanted to buy one, I wouldn't want a Jeep with speakers that are getting destroyed all day.

I had the same experience , I believe all Dodge , Jeep, Chrysler dealerships are like that. Bought my wife a Durango R/T same threw the keys and said "have a great day". Same scenario with my Jeep grabbed my keys and walked out.

I remember when purchasing my tacoma new and my wife's lexus they paired the Bluetooth went over every option you can think off and even scheduled my first service appointment when I took the delivery. White glove experience.

Nope not FCA my friend.
Jim Manning Dodge, Jeep, etc. in Dinuba CA was great, small dealership, mostly sell to farmers, 5 total salesmen, dealt with one guy, Manuel, and met the sons of the founder, great guys, great service. Very straight forward deal, no games. So, not all FCA dealers are bad, only some.

Word of advice, check the google/yelp reviews. Case in point, I did for my new jeep. As there are about 3 or 4 dealers in Phoenix, I drove out of my way 37 miles to the one who had the best, and most consistent reviews on google and yelp. I couldn't have had a more pleasant purchasing experience and shared as much on google for them. That said, the dealer very nearest to me was not a good experience. Yes, I did visit them initially, but they didn't want to negotiate. Besides, I felt like a number and not a person to them, so I walked out. F-em!

yes there is good dealers and bad It sucks but you really have to shop around. When I bought my 2018 jlu Rubi I went to 4 different dealer. 1 was ok.
2 tried to screw me on my trade. I was trading in a 2014 Chevy half ton loaded with 80 k kms. The 2 bad dealer offer me 20 k trade in and only4 k off the jeep
Then I went to SEVEN View Jeep. Wow what a difference . they treated me and my family so well we always feel welcome there. But the real joys was they gave me 26500 for my trade and 7500 off of MSRP. That is over a 10 k difference. I was shocked but I also learned a good lesson that day.
You got to shop around and make them earn your business .

yeah, took me a month to find a dealership I didn't want to burn down.

I too hate when they do not know their produce but pretend they do.

I like to play stupid lol, ask what engine it has, what axles...what does this button do?

I also love when they tell you their a jeep person too...ohh really, a jeep person, that knows less than a dead rabbit about jeeps...interesting.

I bought a used 13' SRT Charger from them, wouldn't buy from them again. They first didn't acknowledge their own internet sales price and first price was 3k higher. They doubted their own internet sale price I pulled on my phone and then agreed to the price. A few days later I came to sign the paperwork as the prior day was too late in the night, The price went up $500 when I already have paperwork stating the lower price and lying to me to my face about what their 3rd party warranty covers, when I opened it up and showed what isn't covered clearly stated I get an "Ok." as a repsonse.

They called me recently to see if I would trade it in since I had equity from the get-go, I'm good..

Do you mind sharing the dealers name? Did you get any discount, if so, how much? I am in Phoenix and the dealers here are making me not even want a Jeep anymore..

Yea, Earnhardt. I didn't get a very warm reception at Airpark Auto Jeep, so tried elsewhere. Dealers here are strange like they don't want to do business with you.

Doc... Duh.
That sucks. I have been to Volvo, BMW, Acura, Infiniti, Jeep, and Nissan.

My only bad experience was the Nissan. The looked at me and my wife like kids and wouldn’t show us the new cars. Granted we did look like teenagers at the time but were both doctors. Oops. Walked out as we mentioned that.

The rest were all the usual niceties. That said only the Infiniti dealer we met ever knew the car as well as we did. My wife’s 2019 Acura she said she wanted the foot activated lift. “They don’t have that Ms”. She asked for the keys to the advance package on the floor, walked over, waved her foot and said “magic.”

Last Jeep Dealer I went to the sales kid had zero clue about the car. I mean absolute zero. Had no clue how anything worked. Knew zero about the engine options. I want a job where I literally only need to know six pamphlets to be fully competent and never get past the front logo. Lol.

So fancy or more mass market sales people amaze me and how completely inept they are. Maybe they didn’t show you the car cause they genuinely don’t know how to work it.
