Hey all, this started probably a few months ago but has been getting worse and worse. My driver-side door started to make a creaking sound when opened or closed. "It's a Jeep thing" I thought at first, but it started to do it more and more and my passenger-side is going in the same direction. These are only the front doors on my JLUS, so far. I've tightened any bolt I could find and determined that it is happening towards the bottom of the door. If i insert my fingers into the metal seems of the door in that area and pull a bit, there is no sound while moving the door, but that only solves it while I'm pulling on the seems. If i put my fingers on the inside wall of the door around the bottom front corner i can feel the creaking inside the door. Best I could really explain it, here is a video :)

Anyone else experience anything like this? Any thoughts?

Thank you

Yea, mine got really loud after I took my doors off and put them back on. Try removing the door check mechanism.

Ladies and gentlemen, grease your hinges.
So I'm pretty sure it's not the hinges, no issues there. It really feels like it's inside and has something to do with the door check mechanism as @mwilk012 pointed to. I'll try removing them and seeing if that does anything.

Mine does it and I have greased everything even the mechanism inside the door - it isnā€™t the hinges or door pins, I donā€™t have my door pins bolted on so thought that may be it but it wasnā€™t - gonna try loosing the door stop mechanism and see what happens.

Posted in a few JL Facebook groups and also seems to be an issue for a number of people. Tried greasing everything and using WD40 with no success. It does seem to be something in the door.

I'm going to take it to the dealer in a week for some other stuff and have them check this out as well.

It's odd, but if I stick my fingers ok no this groove by the weatherstripping and pry it a bit while moving the door the sound goes away.

Anyone else try that?

Try taking the door check mechanism off and seeing if the noise continues.

I did that actually and the noise goes away. I am positive it is something on the inside of the door that the mechanism is connected to. Tightening it yielded no results. Loosening it up made the whole thing wonky but still had the creaking.
