Hey guys, I am the second owner of a 2018 Sahara JL and it has been in the show now for a week for the "service electronic stability control" and for the "stop/start unavailable service stop/start system." The dealership keep telling me that they haven't found the issue. As you guys can understand it is super frustrating that a service department has no idea what to do. What were your results at the end of your issues? Thank you!!

Have them check the drivers door latch...easy way to diagnose is to disconnect the wire harness for the door. That was the issue on mine when it was doing this...I just happened to take the doors off one day after the service light came on and it immediately went off. Ended up being a faulty switch in the door latch.

Evening my fellow Jeepsters!!

its a shame that my first entry on this forum has to be on a sour note. Took me 14 years to get back into my Jeep, and now I'm starting to have doubts about my choice. Family bought our JL in late August of 2018...and for the 2-3 months that followed there were no issues. the first electrical problem came in the form of connectivity of an iPod to the JL Uconnect system. Exact issues of the post I saw of the issues the 2015 JKs were having with their system (would play for 30 secs - 60 secs and then the radio would reboot....over and over again). Then in mid December I was driving early in the morning and the entire dashboard just shut off - along with the power steering. Pulled over to the side of road as the dashboard went through the same type of diagnostic flashing as joeyjoejoe285 posted above. Went on for about 2-3 mins and stopped...with everything coming back except the power steering. Took it to the dealership that same morning and they had it for 3 days before they released it saying they couldn't reproduce the glitch and there was nothing they could do. Between then and now, its happened 9 times. This 9th time (happened around has left the jeep inert and unresponsive (except for the occasional flashing on the dial cluster). Taking it to the dealership in the morning, but am a bit discouraged due to the last time.
My goal now is to use this post as a place for others that have this issue to turn to for answers, so I will continue to update our journey as it presents itself. And thanks to you all who have contributed to joeyjoejoe285 with insight - will be taking that knowledge with me tomorrow...

Wish me luck...

Evening!

...so here's an update to our situation. Seems the cause of our electrical breakdown in the JL was caused by a faulty power steering pump. Jeep was kept for 3 and a half days while they waited for parts to be delivered. During that time my biggest battle was with the dealership and loaner vehicles (was told they wouldn't have a vehicle to loan out until 19MAR19)...but that was taken care of with a phone call to Jeep Customer Service. Called on Monday and had the loaner by Tuesday afternoon. Picked up the Jeep end of business yesterday, so now its just a hurry and wait. It seems to be a myriad of fixes for what seems to be the same issue on the post I've read, however...and that makes me a bit worried that this situation isn't over. God forbid one of has the situation I did of driving on a major highway (was in the process of merging onto NJ Turnpike) and the dashboard and engine cut out going from power steering to manual during a turn.
So for those that had the problem and it was fixed - how are things going with your Jeeps? Any issues?

Still waiting, mine started with a "Service Shifter" message then developed into full blown electrical batshit crazy..
Many error messages and "No Bus" on the dash.. Been in the shop almost 30 days. Re-seated all the harnesses and performed a couple of TSBs.. Replaced the body control module and now waiting on a new transmission control module. Picked up the "fixed" vehicle a few times only to have the same prob happen within 10 miles. Worse new purchase experience ever..
Adding insult to injury is that I keep getting questionnaires from FCA, even from the customer care case I opened that has not had any contact since opening

In most states the Lemon laws require the manufacturer to buy back the vehicle if it is out of service more than 30 days in the first year or that haven't been able to fix the same issue after four tries. You might look into that. There have been a lot of people on the forum that have gotten there Wranglers replace under the Lemon laws.

Yes, PA does have strong lemon laws. I would like to resolve without litigation if possible. If the issue is not resolved this time we'll see what they can bring to the table then decide. Sadly, the short time I've had it I've grown to like it!

Transmission control module has been on back order for weeks. Jeep in the shop since Feb 24th.
Dealer experience has been great during this issue, loaner and advise provided..
FCA is very accommodating and trying to locate the part in dealer stock. Weather's warming up and it's top down season, resolution coming one way or another.

It's one of the vacuum pumps. I had the same problem, took it to the dealer and now it's fixed.
I was told the same thing for similar issues. I"m waiting for my parts to come in, but hoping the new vacuum hoses fix the issue. Glad to hear that it solved your problems

Had to have my ā€˜18 JL Unlimited flatbedded to the dealer this morning. Check engine, service electronic stability control, service electronic throttle control, stop/start offline, shuddering start, very rough idle, and in ā€œlimp modeā€. Not what you want out of a Jeep, ever, but especially on one with less than 1,300 miles. The dealer seems like they are on it. Hoping for a quick recovery. Top-down season is here.

Shit, Iā€™d rather it happen with 1300 miles than just outside of warranty.

This kind of issue is why many people respond so negatively to the increasing complexity and reliance on electronics in new vehicles. There are so many things to go wrong that itā€™s going to be impossible for normal folks to diagnose and fix their Wranglers under the proverbial shade tree 23 years down the line. Makes me kind of sad because some of my best memories of my old Jeeps involve me correctly diagnosing some mechanical problem and fixing it.
