2018 Jeep JL Rubicon & 2004 Jeep TJ. Previously owned 1993 Cherokee, 1980 CJ5, & M151A2 while in the Military. For the love of Jeeps !
On another note, I walked away from my brothers 2018 JK Rubicon Recon the day before yesterday in an impromptu race to 80 mph. This was before I was able to get filled up on premium fuel, as I was still running on the 87 that the dealer had "pre-installed".. ugh.
This was supposed to be sarcasm right......because premium fuel and 87 deliver the same power output ? Also when does the dealership tell its customers...."we pre-installed" 87 octane fuel in your jeep...even though it should have premium fuel in instead.

I am scratching my head thinking ...."No way this guy is believeing what he is writing here.

Oh...and I ll throw this out there for those who believe they know better.
Post a link (credible) that shows the science where 87 octane fuel delivers less power than, 89 or 91 octane fuel. The octane rating has NOTHING to do with the "Power" delivered by the fuel.

I found it impossible to find a manual transmission in August of 2018 in a Rubicon JLU within 600 miles; and when I went to order it, I had to wait several months before FCA would even accept an order for a manual transmission.

Still the only 2019 Manual transmission from my dealership.

What dealer is your dealer? Maybe manuals are a rare breed, even now in Jeeps. I ordered a manual and when I was test driving they were delivering a manual the same day. I thought it was a lot more common with the wrangler crowd.

Premium fuel will not provide any benefit on the 3.6 motor, but definitely on the 2.0. Higher octane on a FI prevents knock which in turn prevents timing being pulled... yada yada yada. Simple tuning 101.

I disagree. My 3.6 would knock every time accelerating at certain RPMs and after clutching when it bounced below idle on 87. Now I only fill with 91 and i have no knock anywhere.

Do you always get gas from the same location? Bad quality gas? The motor shouldn’t be knocking with 87.

This is 100% correct.

Enough timing gets pulled it starts dialing back boost levels, which will lower power output.

Even worse, the wording of the users manual sounds as though using 87 on the 2.0 may not be covered under warranty.

is it just me, or is it really hard to find a 2019 Rubicon 4 door, auto, with a 3.6...is there an issue? a back order? or are they super popular right now? Dealer did a 200 mile search and found 1 with the options I would want, but not my color choice. I did a nationwide search and found 4 not with what I would want...dealer said best to order, but what’s up?
I had the same problem last March, so I just ordered one. Get exactly what you want!

Will do... I think I’ll wait a little bit as I think I’m being a little impulsive. I want one but can and should wait.

Your 3.6 has a problem.

I understand it pays to think things over. And not be impulsive. If I can help with anything else don’t hesitate to ask!

I've driven a 2.0 Rubicon. It's better on gas than my V6 Sahara...

The V6 Rubicon on the other hand.....

I'm pretty sure this is why FCA is pushing the 2.0 in the Rubis. :)
I have a 2.0 Rubi - with 35s and a lift and I’m still getting 21 MPG average. I do have the soft top tho

Is your average speed about 30? Downhill? Because 21mpg isn’t happening on a full tank average.
