The bumpstops are very important, but

If you're using STOCK SPARE TIRE MOUNT--and a bigger tire-you should provide a bumper support for the bottom of the tire-that will provide ANTI GRAVITATIONAL/OFF-ROAD support and save the spare tire mount/tailgate--

I've used the stock SPARE TIRE MOUNT on 3 different vehicles and never lost a mount or degraded tailgate hinges--

My concern is that a majority of the wheels stick out past the fenders over 2-3" because most wheels have a big negative offset and it's the look i don't want. I don't want rocks flinging down the side of the Jeep cause they stick out so far. So I was looking for advice or pictures of people who didn't do the standard setup so commonly used on the JK's and what their experience was.
YES. i am in same boat. i want the same look. what have you found. tread flush to wheel well.

Wheels/ tires sticking outside the fenders don't cause the rocks/debris to hit the side/hinges of your jeep, so forget that idea--

Just ORDER WHEELS with the correct BS-

I've got 17x8.5 +10 ax194 ravine wheels
https://www.americanracing.com/wheel/12968/ax194-ravine
And 295/70/17 Milestar Patagonia tires
These will be going on a 2019 JL SportS 2 door.

Will have pics as soon as my Jeep arrives (still in Toledo rail yard)
Should have minimal poke at the fenders with clearance to the inside as well.

And FWIW the Sahara and Sports do have wider axles vs. the JK versions.
Did you end up putting the wheels on? Curious to see how far out they stick out and how they look on your JL.

No, got a shed full of stuff, but won't be picking up our JL until Jan.21st on our trip out to Las Vegas, the wait has been tough, but getting closer :)

Just installed a 18 x 8.5" rim with 35x12.5" tires today. These wheels have a +18 offset. They tuck in the Sahara fenders nicely and I can go full lock with room for clearance. I think I'll be fine when going offroad. I installed the Dynatrac Endurosport lift kit. This is the exact look I was looking for when I started this thread. I'm really happy with it.

So, if I get rims with the same spec as you have and the same size tires, will the tires look like yours? I mean, will they stick out they same? I LOVE your look

I read in that other thread you posted that you have a Rubicon, the axles are a bit wider on the Rubicons so you would need a bit more positive on the offset to get the same fit at the fender edge as drock317s JL Sahara.

If you have a Rubi you might wanna go a little higher offset cause of your Axel's being wider than mine like what was said above. You might call AEV and see what they're doing on JL Rubi's. I'm pretty sure their wheels are gonna be +25 to maintain the OEM look.

And for everyone saying you have to go -6 or -12 for clearance here are pictures after being oddroad last weekend. She tucked nicely and no rubbing at all.. there is plenty of clearance with these +18mm offset 8.5" wide wheels.

Have a Sahara JL and have some Rubicon suspension take offs and plan to put the RC spacer lift on it.

Would like to run some 18x9 rims with a 35 x12.50 tire and have a +12 offset.

Curious if anyone has ran a wheel similar. I know on the JK you needed the 4.5" backspacing and -12 to -18 offset but I just don't like how far it sticks out.

This website makes it look like it would get me away from the shock just a tiny bit and basically it would just be 2.5" wider than my current setup. So it might stick out a little but not much.

Seem right? If anyone has done this setup on a Rubicon any issues with rubbing while going off road?

Discount tire direct has some rims in the plus side. Rubicon is even worse at a stock +44 rim. Axils are three quarters of an inch wider than yours.

My stock wheels were also +44. I got my wheel and tire package from Discount Tire here in my town. Because I went 18" my wheel selection was fairly limited.

Do you have any pictures from the side you could share? Looks like you have a Mopar Lift? I am looking for wheels that don’t stick out very far.

Read the above part you quoted and it tells ya what kit I installed ;-) it's not the Mopar lift.

Here are a couple side shots.
