Spare rubs bumper - what would you do?

just upgraded my Sport S plastic bumper to “take off” Rubicon steel rear - and the 33” KO2 rubs. I doubt I would every need a spare.

Options
Spare tire delete
Shave down the spare
Let the air out and maybe stop the rubbing
Get a 32” KO2 and live with the difference
Tire relocation kit

What would you do? Note: for this exercise you’re not rich

^^^^^^ If you can open and close the tail gate easily, I would leave it alone. The bumper is affording a bit of support.

Yes but it sticks - it’s a very small size issue

Sounds like it's fine. If you really care, order the rubicon tire carrier, or an aftermarket bracket.

I am Thinking of picking up a set of Rubi take offs . I have a JL Unlimited and wonder if the will rub and spare tire fit on stock. I have not lifted it and plan not to. Thanks

Rough Country sells a spare tire relocation bracket for something like 70 bucks. You might need to get some hokey pucks and drill a hole in them, add them behind the tire isolation thingies so they make contact with the tire.

I have BFG KM3 315/70R/17 on -12 offset wheels and the spare tire fits perfectly on the stock tailgate mount with plastic bumper. I bought the RC relocation bracket but haven't needed to install it yet.

The support provided by the bumper will increase the life of your "SPARE TIRE CARRIER"--

RC spare tire relocation bracket then go to Lowe’s get some footstool feet and some rubber hose or pvc to extend the isolators

I use "ROLL BAR FOAM for my spare tire isolators !

The street I live on has 4 huge speed humps that I go over every day and my spare doesn’t move or make any noise. $8 from lowes and $80 for the RC bracket. I don’t think it gets any cheaper than that. There are a bunch of threads with the exact parts people got from lowes.

If it is a very small amount of rub, I'd suggest you just drop the tire to 15lbs (or something very low, but still driveable) and leave it alone. Note you wanted economical solutions - hard to beat free!
