i voted yes because my 2019 was like that upon delivery. I lost track, have you tried going to a different dealership? it's really frustrating how some dealership service departments are good and at least try to address customer concerns, while others refuse to acknowledge what is an obvious problem. the inconsistency is annoying. what good is an extended warranty (I have the lifetime warranty) if they won't fix anything?

No joke. No reason to be a jackass. I have been 5 times. They have had it close to 4 weeks total time.

I was just asking if it was what people are experiencing. They were starting to make me think it was just me. Clearly it is not.
Posting that video was not social media whining. Its hard to know what is normal and what is not. I would definitely say that is not normal and you should continue to press FCA and the dealer about getting it fixed. Iā€™m constantly correcting my steering on the Jeep. Morseso than my Lexus or the CRV I traded in. But its nowhere near what youā€™re showing in that video and more like what Iā€™d expect from a vehicle like a jeep.

My steering is not ā€œlooseā€ but tends to wander the road, drifting both left and right.
Not undrivable, but certainly a chore to keep straight and relatively unsafe.

I have been at the dealer a few times and recently left it for a few days. Both the top tech and service mgr have driven it and agree itā€™s neither right nor normal. Not a Jeep thing at all.
FCA has a case open and has been involved, but there is no solution yet. They have been responsive in their emails and calls to me. But thatā€™s as far as it goes. There seems to be no pressure with engineering to get it resolved.

Itā€™s a brand new JLU with less than 1500 miles, this has been this way since I drove it off the lot.

No there are no mods done...100 % stock Sahara.
Yes we have done the obvious tire pressure, ball joints, flash the computer, added a dampener, checked alignment, etc. everything but replace the steering gear box.

The hold up now is Chrysler Engineering is ā€œthinkingā€ about what to do next. But while they ponder the issue I am stuck with a $42,000 garage decoration that drives like a broken Walmart shopping cart. They donā€™t seem to have any sense of urgency or initiative to instruct the dealer to change the gear box as others have had success doing.

Yes, Iā€™m frustrated and ready to force a buy back next since time is of the essence in my opinion. I love my Jeep and only want it to drive like it should.

So I ordered a new 2019 JL 4 door Rubicon for my wife. Noticed the steering right away. Took it back to dealer as I thought the alignment was just out. They checked alignment and tire pressure. All was good, so I took it home. After the first tire rotation it seemed to be better for a bit, but then right back to its wondering ways. The dealer just put all new tires on it in hopes that would correct it. Unfortunately it didnā€™t, so I starting searching on here and am seeing that a lot of people are having the same issues.

22 votes on a forum that is not a cross section of all Wrangler users doesn't qualify as clearly.

I think you are missing the point. The fact that anyone else says they experience the same thing or their jeep does not drive like this at tells me I am not making up the problems. By know means am I saying 22 votes means jeep should recall all 2018 Saharas

What about the nearly 3000 posts and 196 pages and counting on the original steering issue thread. Does that thread indicate maybe it's more than a handful?

Same 22 people over and over and over but I was just commenting on the poll results. Not saying they don't have issues just that most don't. Some people extrapolate their problem to the entire brand instead of keeping perspective.

Mine isn't that bad, but it does wander at times. When I go from the Jeep to my 2018 F-150 it's like a night and day difference. It's as if I have to really concentrate to drive the Jeep, and the F-150 almost drives itself.

Really helpful.

@Woodynj my JL does the same and I have a dead spot in the steering wheel. I've been working with Jeep to try addressing the issue. I see you already posted in, "Loose steering feels like it has play and drifts" thread. Continue to pay attention to that thread for any remedies.

Your steering looks exactly like all the cars and trucks I grew up driving. The worst was my 1970 F100, really kept you on your toes. I don't think your steering should have that kind of play in a brand new jeep. The one I test drove was tight. You could always sell the jeep and get a Tacoma, super tight steering and pretty good off-road performance. You young whippersnappers comparing a crv to a jeep, it's never gonna steer like a crv.

Hey OP, where'd you get your JL from if you don't mind me asking? Trying to figure out which dealers around here are actually helpful vs. not at all. I have a bunch that are more or less local - Salerno Duane, Nielsen, Beyer, Autoland, Global, Liccardi and I'm sure some others - and am amazed by how shady some are vs. others when it comes to acknowledging that issues exist, or that there are actual recalls.

I was going to get one around this time last year until these threads started to pop up all over and I decided to wait on the '19s. Going to revisit now, but would like to at least start with a dealer that's in the know.
