When Lite Brite's channel blew up on YouTube, they were running the $180 RC 2.5" lift, a set of inexpensive wheels from Discount Tire (probably $600ish), and a set of inexpensive 37" tires from Discount Tire ($800ish). They took that Jeep on some of the most gnarly trails in the western U.S. and had an absolute blast with it.

If guys are dropping $4k to $6k on a lift and shoes then it just solidifies the fact that I picked the wrong career.

If only you were a bit closer. Iā€™m in VA.
Where in VA? I'm in NoVA. My Rubi is on the way and I'll have lots of take-offs for sale

I'm right at $4800 for my 3.5" RK lift, Falcon shocks, 20x10 wheels, and 37s. Still need to add driveshaft, and programmer.

2" Mopar lift installed $2000.00
37x12.50x17 Toyo MT's $330ea ($1650)
Mopar BeadLocks $320ea (1600)
Mopar beadlock ring paint matched to the Rubicon (optional) $250 total
Tazer JL Mini $322 shipped (Programming tire size etc)
Spare tire relocation bracket $250
TOTAL: $6,072

Choice in Wheels and Tires will change your total drastically as well as choice in lift from a Spacer lift $180-500 to anything more specific at a high price point.

You shouldn't have an issue at all doing what you want with the budget you have- Lots of choice in all categories out there for sure.

Interested in possible 35s on mine. I will occasionally go in beach which is pretty flat. No real dunes. No lift should be ok on a Rubi?
Sure, the Rubicon was made for 35" tires. The only time you will see rubbing is if you stuff the wheels way up in the fender. If you have wheels that stick way out, you might actually hit the tire on the outside of the fender when flexing it though. You just gotta watch that offset/backspacing when purchasing wheels. If using the stock wheels, you may want to consider spacers to bring that wheel/tire out an inch or so. It'll give you a bit wider stance which will feel a bit more stable when driving and also a bit more tire clearance since the backspacing on those stock wheels is quite large (6").

Rolling around on the beach isn't going to be much different suspension wise than cruising the streets... but if you were going to hit the dunes or the hills, you would want some additional suspension travel that a lift provides.

Personally I like the look of the JL when lifted a bit. With the big tires and hood at chest level...to me it screams bad to the bone. Now someone else might prefer the look of the Jeep a bit lower and not so "big", so you will want to think about the look you are going for and chase that dream.

One item that you may run into is the cost of tires like the BFG KO2's, since their 35's are just as expensive as some brand 37's. I was going with 37's from the start but when shopping i did notice how expensive those 35" KO2's were. They are great tires and most likely worth it but it felt like I was getting way more for my money on the 37's. With all of that mass of the 37's though, it does reduce any nimbleness the Jeep had to pretty much zero so that would be another plus if going with lighter weight 35's.

Damn, was gonna say I allocated zero. But you are right, got the Rubicon which already had bigger tires, higher lift and higher fenders.

Yup, and we paid for it!

Wheels/tires/lift are for looks and to make it my Jeep. Wheels have to be matte black and I want something classic like a baha or the newer willys style. Was leaning towards falken all terrain tires or maybe K02 with white letters. Donā€™t want any rubbing issues which is why Iā€™d lift it. Was thinking the mopar 2.5 lift but also keeping my eye out for any Rubicon take off parts. Donā€™t want a wide stance.

Basically I donā€™t want to spend more money for parts Iā€™m not going to get any enjoyment out of and also donā€™t want to cheap out and have regrets or make the ride less enjoyable than it is now.
Discount Tire:

FALKEN WILDPEAK A/T3W - 315/70R17 - $249.00 | $1245 plus $120 installation

BFG - ALL TERRAIN T/A KO2 - 315/70R17 - $253.00 | $1265 plus $120 installation

AMERICAN RACING - AR172 BAJA - 17X9 5-127.00 -12mm - $129.00 | $645.00

TPMS Sensors would need to be purchased or taken out of the stock wheels. Centering rings and lugs would need to be purchased.

Mopar 2" lift:

eBay $1,140.96
Mopar.com - $1,495.00

Installation should take 2.5 to 3.5 hours at $120hr | $420

Mopar has a 15% coupon on accessories - $200 limit
Mopar has a 10% coupon on service - $200 limit

If you buy the lift from the dealer and have them install it, they might just give you a loaner while they do the lift install. You are paying more for the lift so if you can get the $200 off the price ($1295 + $61.51 Tax (4.75%)) and a loaner it might be worth it (+/-215.55). If buying it from eBay you will need to have the lift shipped to your house and take it with you to the dealer. You can pull the parts out of the huge box but it still might be a hassle. If bringing that big box home in the back of the Jeep, I would bring something to lay that box on.

The dealer should have a couple of lifts on hand so don't allow them to charge you for shipping it to them. It looks like there are many Jeep dealers in your area so shop around if needed. Confirm the use of any coupons so you don't end up with a surprise when paying.

Tires - $1265.00
Wheels - $645.00
Install - $120.00
Tax 4.75% - $96.43
---------
$2126.43

---------------

Lift - 1140.96
Install - $420
Tax 4.75% - $74.15
---------
$1635.11

---------------

I come up with something around $3761.54 for the stuff that you want.

Wow, what a price on the Mopar Beadlocks ($225) all im seein' is $325
Where the hell did you find Mopar beadocks for that cheap? Were they missing the trim ring or something? Used?
Ok, my bad. Went back and looked at the invoice. It was 4 wheels for $1199. They only had 4 in stock when I ordered them so the 5th was sent a couple of weeks later on a separate invoice. That included black acorn lugnuts and valve stems installed though. I bought them from BuyMoparPartsNow.com. Back when I bought them their prices killed anyone elses. I paid like $359 for the tailgate reinforcement and now they sell it for $520. They also listed the Mopar snorkel for $320 then. Their prices are higher now. I wish I'd bought it at that price. Their beadlocks (with the trim ring - not the beadlock ring) are now $321 each, which still beats anyone else. Their shipping was also only $70 for all of them. I checked the allmoparparts.com site at the time and they were more per wheel and the shipping was more than twice what the other site charged.
