2018 JLUS with 12,000 miles. This is just over 4 tanks. 8 speed auto, 3.6 pentistar. Go over a 1,200 ft. mountain at least twice a day then mixed interstate and city driving. Interstate 75-78 with cruise set most of the time. 87 octane fuel. I'm pretty happy with just over 21 mpg over this latest 1,500 miles.

I've never noticed the Old Willy's Jeep in the background before, pretty cool!!

I was getting anywhere from 16.5-19.5 mpg on my 2018 2.0 JLU Rubicon. These past few weeks winds up here in Chicago have been rough on mpg though. I got 315's KO2's installed a few days ago so I will see how bad they impact the mpg.

Why would I want to do that? The Jeep is certainly not made for high speed driving. I had my JK once at 95mph and it seemed it could fly apart at any moment. Not to mention, the front end was very light at that speed.

BTW; While there are unrestricted areas of the autobahn, much is actually limited between 100-130KPH. 120 is typical in my area which is about 75 MPH. On my work drive, there is no unrestricted sections. Not that it would matter. Traffic is typically so bad that you would never have a good run.

In the US, I normally only drove my JK (2015) with about 65 MPH. I would get about 19 MPG. That Jeep cost be about 200$ every 2 weeks in gas.
I am still awaiting of my diesel jl rubicon. I really considered the 2.0T as well, but we don't have the mild hybrid part here, so you lose the main benefit to taking that engine, in my opinion.
Seems most folks return about 21 MPG with the 2.2 Diesel. As I do not drive with a heavy foot, I would also be complaining I was returning significantly less than that.
Yes but the OP readily admits to driving 85+. It only takes a middle-school understanding of physics to figure out why his MPG is terrible.

Just curious..
the 2.0 Turbo always has the 48v mild hybrid in the states?
We cannot get the hybrid part here in Germany. So I see very little reason to get it over the the 2.2 turbo diesel engine as there is a big hit in MPG. Remember that petrol is like $6/gallon here. This engine is (diesel) Euro 6d-t emissions as well, so considered to be "clean".
I was also really wondering why they would use the 3.0 diesel in the US and not the 2.2 we have, given that the 3.0 eco diesel is know (in europe at least) to be a pretty crap engine. The 2.8 was reliable, but stupidly slow.

I have have a stock 18 JLUR have about 9000 miles now and have been putting in 93 octane. I average about 18-19 in the city and 20-22 highway. I noticed after wheeling and airing back up I aired up to 44-48 psi. When I did this I noticed my mpg dropped to 16mpg. Then the last time I went wheeling I aired up to the recommenced 37-38 psi and my mpg improved. So, make sure your tires are at the recommmend pressure?! See if that helps. I was told by the dealership the psi reading on the computer is not accurate so be sure to use a tire gauge.
Your dealership is wrong, and higher inflation pressure should equate to lower rolling resistance increasing MPG at the cost of comfort and traction.

I've personally validated my TPMS is accurate to less than 1 PSI (not sure exactly how high precision is since they only output whole numbers not floats) (validated against two of my Longacre racing gauges good for 1/10th PSI.) If I inflate to 31.9, they read 31. 32 and they read 32.

Well, check engine light was due to a loose sensor. Glad it was a quick fix but bummed it didn’t solve the MPG. I’ve just reset the MPG average to see if it levels out. The dealer said give it about 5k miles to beak in.

With a very heavy foot (83-88mph) i have averaged 21.2mpg in both the 18 plus and 19 jluss 3.6L Auto, in Colorado anywhere from 5000ft to 9,000ft above sea level. Running 87 octane. Have an extra 200 or so lbs of accessories plus my 215 lbs.

Your 2.0 should be getting better.

ECU will take a bit to adapt depending on what sensor it was. If it was related to emissions and caused you to run rich, you may see an improvement, but it may take a while. Either way, good luck, but driving 80 that mileage doesn't sound completely out of line. I get around 17-20 calculated on the highway doing 65-70 with 315 Nitto RG tires/winch/etc. Once I start getting much above 70 mph, mpg drops like a rock. I get 15-16 in the city with a fair number of stoplights.

If you're getting 13 and you're not driving it like a sports car, and you're keeping it at 70 and under, something is wrong.

Thanks! That’s great info. Here’s the repair details if anyone’s curious.

No, it is sucking in all the pot smoke out there and getting "high" mileage. :CWL:

Are you using the recommended 91 or higher octane gas? If not that will make a difference. How fast do you drive? My JLUR with the 3.6 gets low 21s on the highway on trips at 65 but drops to the mid 17s at 75mph.
Spot on, mine too, even got it up into the mid 25 mpg at 60 mph on a long trip to New Mexico

I have a JLUR 2.0 and live at 6000 feet and drive mainly mountains here in Southeastern Utah. I am averaging 21.2 MPG. We have a 80mph speed limit on the freeway I mostly drive and it decreases down to 18.4. I admit that few of my miles are in the city and I have a feather foot most of the time.
