Has anyone hooked up the Warn power interrupt kit to a Smittybuilt X20 10,000lbs winch? I'm sure it should work, just curious if you hooked it up to one of the factory aux switches. If so, which lead did you use (aux switch?) Any info is appreciated! :like: Happy Holidays!

I installed it just yesterday, but with a Warn Xeon winch. I connected it to Aux-4 because the relay only requires 5 amps. Aux 3 and 4 have a 15-amp fuse. This way I have saved Aux 1 and 2 for something requiring greater power draw. Now there isn't a live wire to the front bumper all the time; only when I turn on Aux-4. What took the longest was finding a place to mount the relay. Seriously, that took two hours and a creative bracket.

Nice. Thank you for the helpful info! Problem is I'm already using the two 15amp switches for my Hilites and my under hood light... Do you have any photos of how and where you mounted it? Thanks again!

The included power cable (red 2 gauge wire) is quite short so I mounted it on the fender side of the battery using an old bracket that originally held a dish on our house. Good, heavy coat of paint on a rigid bracket. It will work well. It is attached to a grounding lug (A in the picture) and a fender bolt (C). There was a wire grounded to A. I relocated that to an unused grounding post (B) in order to make some room.

Great job! Thanks for posting the well labeled photo. I was thinking about using the upper fender bolt to secure a plate/bracket as well. Using a secondary bolt on the inside edge will definitely help stabilize the whole setup. Thanks for the help! Happy New Year!

Well, I just installed my interrupt kit this morning. We are all not lucky enough to have an old dish mount ;). But for $5 and a little work in the garage you can turn a 4 inch electrical cover into a great mount.

I fabbed up a bracket out of aluminum stock. I think it came out pretty clean

I can't find any info on how many amps the Warn power interrupt kit supports.
  • Similar looking solenoids have a 300 amp max.
  • My Smittybuilt winch draws 380 amps.
Can someone enlighten me please?

I don't know the exact numbers, but here are a couple of answers on the Amazon page I bought it from.

Thanks Kirk, good info! Disconnecting the battery lead from the winch when not in use definitely makes sense.

Good piece of safety to have, a good friend almost lost his Jeep because of the winch power cable
A fellow jeeper rolled backwards into him shoving his bumper up and pinching the lead. The short was so massive and the brake lines taking the brunt of it, caused them to catch fire. Quick action from everyone with extinguishers got it out with out a lot of damage
