Is the 8sp auto brand new, or is it out of another mature vehicle?

While they are both the 8 spd there's a different one they use in the RAM. There's the FCA built version and the ZF version.

I have a RAM and it's not the same exactly.

Coincidentally I'm pushing for a buy back on mine from leaking ALL the time. I just got a lemon though so don't be scared, they are good trannys. The ZF version can handle more HP.

I believe the ZF version came out in 2008 and it’s about 10 years proven.

It's a good transmission and from what I can tell there isn't much a difference between the FCA built and the German built one.

I bealive the geman ZF version is rated to 750hp and the other variant (I want to say HF850 version) is rated to less but basically the same.

It's a great question: I just can't get past the part of ever seeing my "JL" as, "Mature" though or it's 6-speed manual....
