Yesterday, on my way home from family xmas, I had to travel on the highway through Toronto. I had something new to be grateful for.

I'm grateful that the person who was following too closely in the rain had quick reflexes. Because when he finally did come to a stop, he was on the shoulder of the highway, and his driver door was next to my front passenger. My kid and I would likely have been fine, but Gamora wouldn't have walked away from that one quite so easily.

I used to have a heat pump in my first college apartment. No emergency heat hooked up though. (Yay college housing!)

We had a windstorm blow through in January...70 mph gusts with -25F wind chills. Heat pump kicked on, stayed on for 8 hours...the thermostat temp kept falling.

Eventually settled at about 60 degrees inside. That place was so drafty, I watched the fan over my stove spin in reverse with the wind.
