Importing a Wrangler from US to Europe

After the latest news about Wrangler being available in Europe sometime in September, I was wondering if anyone here has any experience with importing a Jeep into EU. How hard it is to bring a JL in EU? And is there any chance to order a Jeep in US with all the dials in metric system (I don't have anything against imperial system, but because all my life I've used the metric system, I'm more comfortable with it)?

This question was already asked by another member. The consensus, I think finalized by JL Dealer guy, is that it won't happen. No delaer will risk it based on many regulatory reasons.

We use the metric system up-here in Canada, so I’d look in this direction if I were you
AND Canadian dollar is lower than the US one, so win/win

Buying first hand, as said already: impossible.

Buying second hand: very expensive. Transportation (1500-3000€), Insurance 2%, Import taxes are fairly cheap, VAT 21% for most countries. Make sure it euro 6 emission legal to ease certification. Get all lighting and blinkers to European standards. Check the radio frequencies...

How to avoid it? Know an ex-pat in the US who is coming back to Europe, he buys the car for you before he leaves, imports it under his name saying he is bringing it along and once it's in, sells it to you.

Voilà...

You might consider waiting for September to get it brand new from your dealer.

Nope the price is apparently ready to drive ie VAT included and “homologation” in Luxembourg ... it’s bought in Canada where the prices are really low
