Do you think the JL and JT's tow and payload ratings are completely arbitrary values?I look at it this way. If the JT can tow 8000 lbs, then there is no reason I can't do the same wth my JLU.

By that logic then there's no reason you can't do it with a 2 door JL either.I look at it this way. If the JT can tow 8000 lbs, then there is no reason I can't do the same wth my JLU.
I don't think many people will be dropping there JL's for the JT. I do think there are a lot of folks in my boat that put off there JL or JT buy until all the JT info is available. If The JT rumor mill was not around at JL launch I would have one in my garage right now.So out of curiosity who all is going to dump their JLs for the JT once it’s released and hits the showroom? Sounds like it’s being built on the RAM chassis, will come with new Dana 44 axles. Probably why the payload is 8,000 lbs. I might wait a few years to see how the bugs play out first on this one since the JL had quite a few especially the frame. This is going to be a totally new animal.
Correct my error towing is 7650 just rounded up to 8000.I don't think many people will be dropping there JL's for the JT. By the way payload is 1600. Towing is 7650 (8000).
Ah, another contestant for the Darwin Award.I look at it this way. If the JT can tow 8000 lbs, then there is no reason I can't do the same wth my JLU.
While the JT will share some of the same trend chaser clientele, I doubt any would be dropping the JL or any other vehicle to get a JT.I don't think many people will be dropping there JL's for the JT.
I guess it comes down to someone saying to themselves as they are towing a boat or hauling a load in the bed, “you know what would make this better, if I could pull off my doors.” Tough sell if you ask me.My question is will the Gladiator attract non-jeep owners to purchase it? If you own a car and are wanting to get into the truck market, will the scrambler really be on your list over some of the other strong choices that are already available? I have my doubts. First, I think the largest group of customers is going to be current JK owners wanting the newest/latest/greatest thing coming out. Second, I don’t think the price point is going to be good at all. It will be a very niche market IMO. I think it gets cool points, but a functional, practical choice for truck owners...I dunno about all that. And yes I do realize that a wrangler may not be functional or practical for most, which solidifies my opinion that the majority of buyers, especially initially, will be current wrangler owners.
In the reveal he even mentions that we are not expecting for the segment to come to us, we are going to the segment. So your thoughts above have come up in discussion around Jeep campus for sure. They don't really know who it is for, but they are going to start by marketing to those that love Jeep.My question is will the Gladiator attract non-jeep owners to purchase it? Yeah, other than the frame being completely different, the wheelbase being 19 inches longer, and the hitch mounting arrangement being totally different, what's the difference?I look at it this way. If the JT can tow 8000 lbs, then there is no reason I can't do the same wth my JLU.
The specs are awesome. Standard D44 axles front and rear on ALL models. 3.73 axle ratio on Sport models. 1,600 lbs. payload on Sport models. Wow!!Just watched the Gladiator video on YouTube. I will say that stair-climbing was nothing less than awesome. Clearly, this one is going to challenge all those mall-crawling Rubis.
