"On-going Intermittenent no start issue with new JLU Sahara".
(BTW.. a huge thank you to JL forums for helping me track the factory build of my Jeep from day 1, so awesome! I knew the jeep had arrived at the dealership apparently before the sales department did, and when I stopped by the local dealership to check it out on that Saturday, they told me it hadn't arrived yet and they did not know when it would be there, the sales department later admitted that it had been there Saturday all along and It turned out that there were several miles mysteriously showing up on the odometer when they finally handed it over to me .. a story for another day).
Back to the no start issue... this is like the 6th or 8th time this has happened and so far it has only happened while sitting in my garage and has not left me stranded away from home or in the back country. But this issue is somewhat driving me crazy because I am pretty sure it is a software / firmware issue with the Jeep's onboard computer system and not the result of me having a brain cramp. So now I will attempt to describe the issue in detail .. 99.5 times out of 100 it starts up like a dream, but the times it hasn't it has always when it is parked inside my garage, sitting unlocked for several days with both key fobs in a drawer inside the house about 25 feet away, (The Jeep is not a daily driver, it is my second vehicle and I am the only person who drives the jeep, I live alone except for my teenage daughter who is with me every other week, I have complelely ruled her out since this issue just happened again tonight and my daughter is currently 3500 miles away on vacation in Hawaii with her Mom). So far I only drive the Jeep on weekends and some evenings, which is after hours while the dealership service department are closed, ( even if they were open I am certain that this issue would not replicate itself in the presence of the service department and there is no practical way to demonstrate this to anyone), so it goes like this.. I grab the key fob, open rear door to load up the dog in back, doors are already unlocked so not pushing any buttons, jump in the driver's seat, buckle up, e-brake was not set, vehicle in park automatic trans, step on brake pedal, dash lights up with all graphics displayed, headlights come on, tach and speedo needles sweep over and then back, uconnect display active, ignition goes from Acc to Run to Start but the engine does not turn over. The display says brake pedal and push button but no matter how many times I try everything looks normal, engine will not turn over even after dozens of tries and double - tripple checking everything! I want to make clear that the display DOES NOT at any time during this sequence say "key fob not detected", the only thing that finally gets the jeep started is to leave it sit parked and go back into the house, wait 15 minuets and then use the remote start function by pushing start twice with fob, remote start function does not work while sitting ih the vehicle during this issue nor after getting out and standing next to it from outside. I wait 15 minutes, (trying start button again from inside vehicle doesnt work), remote start after wait is the only thing that seems to get it started. My previos vehicle was a 2014 RAM 1500 with remote and push button start and no issues, I am 55 years old this year and my girlfriend and some of my buddies will tell you it is because I have lost my mind, but I think it could be the Jeep this time .. could this be a security feature i am not disabling?? Any help would be appreciated

I am having problems with the push-to-start function as well. I brought it in to service. It actually wouldn't start when I was parked in front of the dealership - sales manager witnessed it. Brake was nearly to the floor, button pushed with all my might. Service department tells me that this is a know problem with Chrysler products, but they have no fix, so even if they could reproduce it, which of course they couldn't, they have no way to fix it. They say keep the FOB away from your cell phone, don't put the FOB in your pocket, and try putting the FOB right next to the start button. This is not how a $50K vehicle is supposed to operate. I'm get up.

Push the brake harder.

Try remote starting it from the beginning, it will work every time if this is your problem.

Pushing the brake pedal harder solved the problem. It doesn’t have to be pressed down very hard just a little firmer than I was before. Thank you for the follow up. C

My JL with under 1000 miles has been at the dealership for 5 days now for this issue. Would not push button start or remote start. I feel this whole jeep thing has been a total let down. Maybe it'll get lemon lawed and I can count my losses selling my parts back off....

My wife is having the same issue with her JLUR. Ares is a 6 speed, we wait 5 mins or so it will start. It has happened 3 times now. The jeep only has 700 miles on it. We have pushed the clutch down to the floor half way up e brake on nothing.

I am having the same problem with my JLU. It is currently in the dealership, been there for 6 days. Second time I have had it in for this. Extremly incovenienced and annoyed. If they can't fix this problem they should replace the vehicle. I go by myself out into the back country and done't want to get stranded.

Pressing the brake pedal a little harder woked for me. Issue resolved

Found this thread googling my current problem.

I'm having a similar issue. I purchased my 2019 Wrangler Unlimited Moab in late June. When I get into the car, sit in the driver's seat, depress the break pedal to the floor, and push the ignition button with the keys in my hand, it will attempt to start repeatedly for 10-30 seconds before failing to turnover. It simply fails to turn over and then the electrical systems turn on (radio, fan, lights, etc). Following that it will usually turn on with the second ignnition attempt, but not always.

I've taken it to the dealer twice now to look at it. The first time, I was able to replicate the problem in the presence of the service rep who took my car. The dealer held onto it for a week before telling me they couldn't replicate the issue and to come get my car.

The problem occured for me literally two hours after picking it up from the dealer and several more times the next day. So I began filming my ignition attempts. Over the course of 2 weeks it happened no less than 20 times, and I'd managed to record 13 separate instances of it happening.

I brought the car back into the dealer, posted the videos to an online album, sent the link to my vehicle care manager and the dealership operations manager, and told them that if they couldn't replicate the problem they needed to try harder... They've had the car for 10 days now and still can't narrow down the problem or identify it as a known issue. I on the other hand found 10 posts just like this googling "JL wrangler ignition problem." Go figure.

On the bright side, dealer finally admitted that they were able to replicate the problem this afternoon and would seek further assistance from Chrysler. Meanwhile, I'm paying a hefty monthly payment on a 50k dollar car and driving a loaner Cherokee...

This is not my first jeep. Before this I drove a 2012 2dr Sahara and before that a an 89 YJ Sahara. I've been dreaming of buying a top trim wrangler like the Rubicon or Moab for years and now that I've gotten around to it, I'm pretty disappointed in the experience. You can't help but feel like no matter how high the trim, you're still just driving a chrysler.

Here are a couple videos of it saved to a Googlealbum.

Mine is in the shop for the exact same reason, except mine went completely dead without warning. Turns out starter was gone after only 9k miles.

Crazy. Just read your story. I've had some questionable customer service so far, but they've given me a loaner. Thankfully, I've only put like 800 miles on the car so far too, so there's no room for equivocation as to whether it's a manufacturer's defect. We'll see what happens. Hope your problem gets fixed sooner rather than later.

They eventually ended up replacing my fuel pump and the problem disappeared. Literally 2 days before they met the criteria for a lemon law return in Virginia.
