Here are the torque values for the JL
Sponsored
I did end up just putting a long 13 inch pipe over my ratchet handle and that gave me the leverage I needed to break those T50s loose - no torching involved. They were crazy tight!Torque wrench? Why? Is there a specifc torque value? And if so, where did you find that information.
That said, thanks for the advice. Could not get them to budge at all yesterday using a standard socket wrench and a torx bit.
@paulr Did you have any luck removing the the black plastic retainer piece without breaking it? I can't find any attachment mechanisms on it. I would like to avoid breaking it, but if I do have to, intend to do in in such a way that I can repair it before reinstallation. There is a plastic piece in the center of the belt that really needs to come out, but my husband could not get them out, so he ended up breaking them to get the belts out.
If you have any questions, let me know...
there wasn't anything specific to it, they were hard to remove, might end up breaking them and just have to repair it, another thing I can think of is to just cut the front of it with a slit so that you can slide the seat belt out and then back in when you have the new ones without having to remove the piece from the vehicle@paulr Did you have any luck removing the the black plastic retainer piece without breaking it? Again, sorry for all the questions, but the payoff will be an all new thread where I try to consolidate all of this info for everyone.
Thanks again!
That’s exactly what I did ( after breaking the driver side of course)there wasn't anything specific to it, they were hard to remove, might end up breaking them and just have to repair it, another thing I can think of is to just cut the front of it with a slit so that you can slide the seat belt out and then back in when you have the new ones without having to remove the piece from the vehicle
If you are in CA I would use Seat Belt Restore instead of shipping across the country. Not only are they closer for shipping costs, but they seemed nicer and did better work. Seat Belt Restore just emailed me a promo code:OK, this has been a slog, but partly to me being ultra careful and trying to document for a future thread.
I'm down to removing my last belt, which for me is the right rear. Of course I have the Alpine subwoofer complicating matters, so wanted to see if anyone has tips and tricks to get to that last bolt just above that speaker. What's involved? How much of the trim (or more) will I need to remove until I can get to it? Hoping I can get enough info here to finish up and get these shipped out tomorrow.
I will be using SafeyRestore.com. They said they learned a lot from the first one they did, so I'm giving them a shot.
Only tip I have for that side is take the three D-Loop hooks (one t-45 bolt per hook) out before trying to remove the speaker box assembly (which is what I am calling it)OK, this has been a slog, but partly to me being ultra careful and trying to document for a future thread.

Looks amazing btw. I am only doing the 4 corners intentionally as I like the look as you have it now. I really don't want a stark red slash across the black leather. That said, opinions are like, well, opinions, and no wrong way to do it!Here are mine installed (4 out of 5)
I cut a slice right down the middle. No luck trying to pry it out. Felt like it was going to break.Hello I'm trying to take my belts out this will be my 1st mod but is there anyway to removing the the black plastic retainer piece without breaking it and do I just pull at it to remove it
