The thing is, its not an all new engine. Its been in use in the Alpha Romeo Guilia and Stelvio as the base engine, and has since been tuned for use in the Jeep.

It didn't seem to me like it would give me any trouble getting through mud and up hills.

That being said, the 3.6 is still a great engine.

I think I just mean, simpler is better in the middle of nowhere, which is exactly where a Jeep can take you.

This is true, and I have no lack of confidence in my 3.6. But as far as finding the JLUR with the 2.0 as a competent daily driver, I am all on board!

An all new engine isn't like redesigning a chassis. I'm sure it is a great power plant, but the 3.6 is tested and true, and delivers its power linearly which is a great boon when your trying to get over an obstacle. I like the idea of the 2.0T for Wranglers that would see a great deal of their use on road perhaps.

I still think that 3.6 is anemic. In a head wind, up a hill, trying to pass, it just can't seem to get out of it's own way.

eh, I don't know if I'd say its anemic. Its got plenty of power and probably the best V6 I've owned.

I have never come close to using full throttle, for anything, and I have driven across the windy plains of this country in a head wind.

Apples to oranges my friend. The 3.0 compared to the 3.6 simply has the sustained torque to pull harder where the 3.6 starts to give up. It's quite a bit stronger, just not on a 6.7 Cummins level.

I remember the 3.5L, you must be thinking of that boat anchor. The first time I drove Pentastar equipped car after being used to my dog 3.5 Charger, I couldn't stop grinning. The 3.6L is a gem, trust me I have experience to know

My first wrangler drive was a 3.8 with the 4 speed auto... Add 85 Hp and 4 more gears and its a massive difference.
