Won’t turn off “ignition or accessory on”

I didn’t come across this one though searching. Have right around 1000 miles on the Jeep and when I got home today, I unbuckled my seatbelt as I was putting the Jeep in park and when I turned it off, the engine shut down but it moved to “accessory” position. When I opened the door the dash displayed “ignition or accessory on” and when trying to cycle through acc/run to turn it off, it says “vehicle not in park” when moving to the run position. When starting the Jeep it flashes “passenger airbag on” and it does drive normally - just won’t shut down. I was able to repeatedly start and drive the Jeep without having the key present. @JeepCares or anyone else - is this a known/reported issue?


EDIT: let Jeep sit 90 mins and went to dinner in the wife’s car (key nowhere near vehicle) and it was just as I left it when we got home. I called the 800 # and they offered to have it towed to a dealer, but I said probably not a good idea since it was able to run and drive without the key. She advised to disconnect the battery and the dash went out as I pulled ”1” from the side of the fuse box. I expected to have to pull 1/2/3 based on reading here. Waited 3 mins and reconnected and the dash looked normal, but some of the infotainment options were not working (heated seats not available, mirror dimmer not available, Sirius missing, and the screen looked different). Shut off the Jeep which worked, started it again and the infotainment went back to normal. Shut off the Jeep again and it powered down normally.

Hi @JeepCares this has not been resolved - have not driven the Jeep since. Will be taking to dealer Wednesday 8-Aug for this issue, dripping rear washer, and leaking window.

*bump*

Am I really the only one that’s experienced this? Happened again tonight, same scenario - 5 min ride, parked for about 2 hours, 5 min ride back home, seatbelt off before turning the Jeep off (or trying to).

Was at the dealer from 8-Aug through 13-Aug and they could not reproduce but told me they reloaded a lot of software. No details in the paperwork, it actually said could not reproduce w/ no detail around work performed but they stated they were going to do a thorough write-up and share. The issue came back today, but instead of starting and repeatedly trying to turn it off, I drove it 10 mins home and it shut down and moved to off. I drove it a few minutes later and it shut down normally, then 3 hours later I started it, moved 10 feet, and it didn't shut down - stuck in ACC again. Drove it two more times and each time it wouldn't shut down.


@JeepCares the dealership asked me to bring the Jeep in again - it will be there starting tomorrow 18-Aug through Thursday 23-Aug to give them an opportunity to try reproducing the issue. It won't turn off now and the dealer said to throw it on a trickle charger and try to keep it that way so they can see it in the morning. My case # is 34790780. Can you reach out to the dealer? They were happy to have received a call while it was in previously for this issue. It is very discouraging to have spent >50k on a vehicle your wife won't drive for fear of being unable to turn it off, and I'm uncomfortable with it because when it won't shut down you can start and drive it without the key, and now we will be without a vehicle for almost a week.

Can you request the case manager call me again for case 34790780? When I briefly spoke with him he said there was no way for me to reach out directly. My Jeep is on day 13 at the dealership and it's 2nd visit for this issue. The good news is that the dealership was able to reproduce it and stated I have some damaged wiring tucked up very far under the dash. I would like to discuss what happens next time this issue recurs.

Had this same issue with my JLU Rubicon today. First time. Have around 3000 kms on it. Backed in the driveway and stayed between on and acc. Said vehicle not in park. Sat in it for a few mins while I read your post and then tried again and it shut off. Probably a total of 15-20 mins. With a few cycles of starting it and moving it.
Did you ever find out what was causing it?
