Last week I went to a car wash to try to clean underneath the Jeep and found that my driver side is getting water in it. I didn’t notice if the other doors do it since I wasn’t sitting in them but no water was present on the mats when I got home to check to weather stripping.
During the carwash, I was sprayed in the face and legs.
Is anyone else having a similar issue? Is this something to be concerned about?
I went back today so I could record it happening but I think I’m done with the car wash for now.
Hopefully you can see the water on my floor mats and seat from the first time.
Video is just me placing a sheet of paper by the door to show it getting sprayed.
Please excuse my son saying it’s scary in the background, he isn’t a fan of the carwash.

Sorry about the leak, but I do love your red/tan Sport. That’s exactly what I plan to order sans water leak.

So the point of entry is coming from the bottom of the door?

Was this an automatic car wash?

That should be easy for the dealer to duplicate with a hose and nozzle or self serve car wash. If they can diagnose the location of the leak, hopefully they can fix it.

Sorry that stinks but my guess is the dealer will tell you no car washes because the doors, body, roof panels are meant to come off the weather strips are not meant to hold back pressured water ,rain water is not under pressure so if it doesn't leak when it rains but does leak when you go through the car wash then there is no problem with the vehicle,or you could take it to the dealer and see what they say.

Thank you, I really like the combo. Sadly, I will be covering it with some Katzkins soon though. The fabric isn't the best choice for my basketball team of kids.

Yes, it was an automatic carwash and coming from the door. When at home washing it and with the pressure washer we didn't get any water inside. My husband took his JLU to the carwash too and had zero issues with water coming in. Seems to be just mine.

Thank you, yeah I kinda figured the dealer would advise not to wash it in a carwash again. I probably won't again anyways, it's caused my winch rope guard thing to fray a bit and we just put the winch on two days ago. :swear:

Crazy thing is that my husband takes his jlu to the same carwash and has zero issues with water coming in. I have to go to the dealer for other reasons so I'll probably bring it up and see if they can at least give it a glance to make sure it's all on correctly.

Take a look at your door seals on the driver side and compare to the passenger side to see if anything looks skewed. Another poster had an issue with a door seal that was not seated properly causing wind noise.

Take to the dealer. Do not buy the “it should not be taken through a car wash BS”. I went through this with my 17 JKU. 12 visits, 81 days out of service for leaks. FCA bought it back. My 08 and 14 JKU’s never leaked through car washes automated, or by hand or during rain storms. I can’t use a car wash now as I have soft top only. But I have spray my JLU with pressure and no leaks.

Depending on the car wash, but I will feel water coming in down by my knees/shins in my JLU sport too.

I noticed the drivers side leaks during the last rains here in CA. I hit the brakes going down hill and my whole left arm got soaked as we came to a stop. Passenger and rear seats were fine...just driver side had the leaks. My wife said you paid $60k for a leaky jeep, must be a jeep thing...with a smirk!

I had the same issue with mine and I was told not to use Automatic car wash’s, it says so in the owners manual. So I pulled out the manual and it does mention to avoid high pressure washes.

Only under under "Appearance Care For Fabric Top Models" I have a hardtop. Everything below the soft top model instruction shouldn't apply to me.

I've had the same thing. We had a storm, then noticed when leaving from work to go home, that I had a puddle on the driver side the position of where my left foot would be. It's happened today, too as it was raining out. Any updates??? I've only got 2800 miles on this $50,000 vehicle.

Hi clf1024,
I understand why this would be concerning. If you choose to have your dealer look into this, you can also send us a private message so we can help address any questions or concerns you may have while your Jeep is being serviced.

We just noticed this on our new JLU, and it looks like it comes in UNDER the door, mostly in the center. So if the water nozzle is low enough pointing up under the door, it sprays in a bit. We're going to add Jeep 82215394 and see if it helps block the water from coming in...

Did you ever figure out why it was leaking? Ours never leaked until we removed the doors / top recently and now bot driver & passenger side leak as you described.
